March 16, 2015 // Franchising.com // Fort Worth -Texas-based Fuzzy's Taco Shop®, the award-winning, fast-casual Baja-style Mexican restaurant group, launched its annual "Cups for Kids" fundraising campaign last week. Through the end of March, with every souvenir drink cup sold at participating locations, 25 cents per cup will go to the charity A Wish With Wings, which "grants magical wishes to children with life-threatening conditions."
Over the last five years, Fuzzy's Taco Shop's annual souvenir cup campaign has donated a total of $65,000 to A Wish With Wings, and expects this year's campaign to be its largest, with 34 corporate- and franchisee-owned locations in Texas participating.
"This year's souvenir cup sports the three words that best define our brand: 'Fresh, Fast, Fun'," said Fuzzy's Taco Shop Founder and President Chuck Bush, who is on A Wish With Wings' board of directors. On the other side of the souvenir cup is the company logo, and the cup comes with soft drinks/ ice tea priced at $1.99 - $2.29. Diners can return to any Fuzzy's Taco Shop with their souvenir cup and refill it for only $1.
Mr. Bush continued, "A Wish With Wings is an upstanding organization that is making a big difference in the lives of Texas children. We are honored to be affiliated with these folks, and hope this year's souvenir cup campaign is our biggest to date." Fuzzy's Taco Shop also supports the organization every year by hosting an industry golf tournament. Through its golf tournaments and souvenir cup campaigns, so far Fuzzy's Taco Shop has raised $118,000 for A Wish With Wings.
Known for its casual fun ambiance and generous helpings of uniquely flavorful Baja-style Mexican fare, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop's menu features its original take on the Baja taco, which is often referred to as “addictive” thanks to the garlic sauce and feta cheese that makes it so distinctive. The restaurants also serve a wide array of handmade enchiladas, jumbo salads, nachos, burritos and its signature white queso and chips, as well as a children's' menu. Fuzzy’s Taco Shops are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and most locations offer a generous selection of beer, wine, margaritas and other specialty drinks, as well as dog-friendly patios.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop was recently named to website and mobile app Urbanspoon's annual list of Top American Eateries for Cheap Eats , and was named one of Entrepreneur magazine's Top 10 New Franchises for 2014.
Founded in 2001 near the TCU campus in Fort Worth, the original Fuzzy’s Taco Shop® was purchased by Alan and Chuck Bush after just two years of operation. The father-son combination with a collective 20 years of restaurant industry experience initially took a slow, hands-on approach to running the business. They insisted on adhering to the promise: “To focus our full attention on promptly and efficiently providing our guests with generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price in a fun atmosphere.” That promise remains central to the chain’s success today as Fuzzy’s Taco Shop expands across the country. Fuzzy’s corporate-owned and franchise locations are now serving fresh, handmade Baja-style Mexican food in 78 stores across nine states, with many more on the way.
