Faegre Baker Daniels Welcomes Nationally Renowned Employment Litigator

March 18, 2015 // Franchising.com // Chicago - Faegre Baker Daniels continues building its Chicago and complex employment litigation practices with the hire of former Morgan Lewis & Bockius partner George Stohner.

Stohner brings with him more than 35 years of employment litigation experience, including establishing Morgan Lewis’ complex employment litigation group and defending significant class action employment litigation cases across the United States. He started the firm’s New York-based labor and employment practice and later served as West Coast leader of its employment and labor practice teams.

“We are thrilled to add George to our rapidly growing employment team in Chicago,” said Chuck Knapp, partner and employment litigation team lead at FaegreBD. “He brings an impressive track record in the courtroom and extensive complex employment litigation experience that will allow us to better serve clients on such matters across the country, including California.”

Stohner focuses on defending employers in systemic discrimination cases, wage/hour collective actions and other complex employment litigation matters. He has led trial teams in successfully defending against numerous employment litigation matters across the country, particularly those involving class and collective action claims. During his career, Stohner also has been involved in numerous high-stakes labor negotiations in both private and public sectors.

Stohner is licensed to practice in Illinois, California, New York and the District of Columbia. He will office in FaegreBD’s Chicago and Silicon Valley offices.

Human Resources Executive has named Stohner among the “Most Powerful Employment Attorneys” every year since 2010. BTI Consulting has recognized him as a “Client Service All-Star.”

Stohner began his career as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Corps, representing the Department of the Army in civil right litigation. He then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division of the Washington, D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office, where he defended the government in major employment-related lawsuits. Stohner holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary and received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
