April 02, 2015 // Franchising.com // SCOTTSDALE, Ariz - Massage Envy Spa, the pioneer and national leader of professional, convenient and affordable massage and spa services, today announced plans to expand the brand's presence throughout the state of New York. These development plans come on the heels of recent openings of Massage Envy Spa's first clinics in Manhattan.
The brand's first Manhattan location opened in November 2014 in Midtown West followed by clinics opening in the Upper East Side/Sutton Place and Gramercy areas. Two additional New York clinics opened in the Rego Park neighborhood of Queens and in Syracuse's largest suburb, Clay, NY. To continue the New York growth momentum, Massage Envy Spa is targeting other New York markets for expansion including the five boroughs – the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island – and upstate markets, including Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and Ithaca, among others.
"Development in New York City has been a big part of our national expansion strategy," said Steve Bielewicz, vice president of global franchise sales. "We are continuing to target not only Manhattan, but the other four boroughs and the upstate region for additional growth for the brand. We're thrilled to see how well received our newest New York locations have been, and are eager to bring even more clinics to the Empire State."
The opening of the Midtown West, Gramercy Park, Upper East Side, Rego Park and Clay locations bring the total number of operating clinics in New York to 37. With a new presence in New York City, Massage Envy Spa has further solidified the brand as a leader in the health and wellness industry and is looking forward to expanding the brand not only in The Big Apple, but also in territories located throughout the U.S.
Today, Massage Envy Spa has more than 1,000 clinics in 49 states, making Massage Envy Spa the largest system of franchised massage clinics in the industry. The company is also the world's largest employer of licensed/registered therapists with more than 25,000 massage therapists and estheticians providing over 18 million massages a year to a total of more than 1.5 million members.
To fuel growth and expansion, the company is looking for franchisee candidates who have the ability and the desire to learn and follow a system that values customer service and satisfaction. Franchisee candidates should have business sales or management experience, but do not necessarily need to have a massage therapy or spa operations background. They also should possess a minimum net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $150,000. Depending on the real estate, Massage Envy Spa franchisees can expect their initial investment to range from approximately $412,600 – $938,900, including the franchise fee.
