Bojangles' Raises more than $584,000 in 14th Annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy Fundraiser

Funds Will Send Over 700 Children Affected By Neuromuscular Diseases to MDA Summer Camp This Year

April 10, 2015 // Franchising.com // Charlotte, N.C. -  Bojangles’ announced that with the help of its loyal customers, the company raised a record-breaking $584,689 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association® (MDA) during its 14th annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy in-store fundraiser. With this record-breaking amount of funds raised, Bojangles’ will send 730 children affected by neuromuscular diseases to MDA summer camp this year.

From March 6 through March 22, Bojangles’ customers at all company-owned restaurants and participating franchise locations were given the opportunity to support MDA by purchasing a green shamrock for $1 or a gold shamrock for $5. Customers who purchased either shamrock received a coupon for a free Bo-Berry Biscuit®, a Bojangles’ made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuit filled with Bo-berries and topped with a sweet icing drizzle.

“Bojangles’ has proudly supported the MDA’s efforts in finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for neuromuscular diseases through various fundraisers throughout the past 17 years,” said Bojangles’ President and CEO Clifton Rutledge. “We’re thankful for the support of our loyal customers whose generosity has helped provide funds for hundreds of incredible children to experience a magical week at MDA Summer Camp. We feel honored to play a part in helping make this experience happen for even more children each year.”

The MDA Summer Camp offers children a wide range of activities specially designed for young people who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs. Although the camp is structured, programs are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere that gives campers an unmatched opportunity to develop lifelong friendships, share interests and build self-confidence.

“MDA is grateful to have such wonderful corporate sponsors like Bojangles’ that have helped us bring countless smiles to the faces of our MDA families and campers throughout the years,” said MDA Fundraising Coordinator, Lanie Kirouac. “Bojangles’ Shamrocks Against Dystrophy fundraiser helps make the dream of MDA summer camp a reality for more and more children affected by neuromuscular diseases each year and we look forward to continuing this impactful partnership.”

An MDA partner of 17 years, Bojangles’ has raised more than $4.5 million to support healthcare and research efforts through the Shamrocks Against Dystrophy Fundraiser each spring and the MDA Golf Classic each fall.
