Arooga’s® Adds First USDA Organic Menu Item and Partners with The Canopy Project for Earth Day 2015

Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar and The Canopy Project Will Plant a Tree for Every Bowl of its New Organic Chicken Noodle Soup Ordered on April 22, 2015

April 13, 2015 // Franchising.com // Harrisburg, Penn. – Arooga’s will do its part on Earth Day 2015 (Wednesday, April 22), one bowl of soup and one tree at a time.  Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar, with nine locations in Central Pennsylvania-soon to be ten with its newest location in Lancaster opening summer of 2015, and its first franchise location in Uncasville, Connecticut, today announced its first USDA Organic menu item: Organic Chicken Noodle Soup – Packed with diced chicken, a medley of vegetables and tender penne pasta, all simmered in a savory herbed chicken broth for $4.99.

And through a partnership with The Canopy Project, Arooga’s will donate $1 from each bowl sold in order to plant trees (one tree per bowl sold) where they are needed most. The Canopy Project plants trees that help communities - especially the world's impoverished communities - sustain themselves and their local economies.

“Trees reverse the impacts of land degradation and provide food, energy and income, helping communities to achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability. Trees also filter the air and help stave off the effects of climate change,” said Johanna Bozuwa, Earth Day Network’s associate director of education. “ That's why, earlier this year, Earth Day Network made a commitment with the Global Poverty Project to plant 10 million trees over the next five years in impoverished areas of the world. We’re pleased to see Arooga’s doing its part as a responsible corporate citizen and we are thilled to partner with them.”

The $1 Earth Day 2015 donation to The Canopy Project for each bowl of Organic Chicken Noodle Soup sold is valid at all Arooga’s locations.

“We’ve always been a great neighbor in our communities and we’re very excited about this partnership with The Canopy Project. Our first organic menu items signals a new beginning for Arooga’s as our company initiative is to, over the next several years, transition our menu to be completely all natural and organic,” said Arooga’s co-founder and president Gary Huether, Jr. “It started with our addition of the steroid, hormone, and antibiotic free, grain fed Wagyu Kobe burgers to our menu. We have also transitioned all of our soups and dips to be MSG, Trans Fat, and Azodicarbonamide free and contain all natural ingredients, and have taken it to the next level with the addition of the organic chicken noodle soup We think you’ll love the soup and we look forward to seeing you on Earth Day 2015. Through this new partnership, we hope to sell a lot of soup and plant a lot of trees.”

Arooga’s is one of the fastest growing businesses in Central Pennsylvania with 9 corporate locations, its tenth opening in Lancaster summer 2015, and 28 franchise locations under contract. Arooga’s recently made its out-of-state debut with its first franchise location in Uncasville, Connecticut as part of a 15 unit franchise agreement with the Mohegan Tribe. Arooga’s will be seen in Chicago as early as this summer and in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area by 2017.
