The Jack in the Box Foundation Donates $325,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters

SAN DIEGO - April 13, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Jack in the Box Foundation today announced a $325,000 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters, which will allocate a large portion of the funds to provide mentors to children from military families, including children of the deployed, children of the fallen and children of the wounded and disabled.

Monies for the donation were raised during the 25th annual Jack in the Box® Charity Golf Tournament, which was held April 9-10 in Indian Wells, California. Nearly 400 Jack in the Box® restaurant franchisees, employees and vendors attended the event at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa. Joining the Jack in the Box Foundation as co-title sponsor for this year’s event was the Jack in the Box National Franchise Association, which represents more than 100 franchise owners with more than 1,700 Jack in the Box restaurants.

To date in 2015, the Jack in the Box Foundation has donated more than a half million dollars to Big Brothers Big Sisters, including a $220,000 donation in January comprising proceeds from the sale of a limited-edition ornament during the holidays.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, holds itself accountable for children in its program to achieve measurable outcomes such as educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships. Partnering with parents/guardians, schools, corporations and others in the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters carefully pairs children ("Littles") with screened volunteer mentors ("Bigs") and monitors and supports these one-to-one mentoring matches throughout their course. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Outcomes Survey substantiates that its mentoring programs have proven, positive academic, socio-emotional and behavioral outcomes for youth, areas linked to high school graduation, avoidance of juvenile delinquency and college or job readiness.

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity, often those of single or low-income households or families where a parent is incarcerated or serving in the military, with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. This mission has been the cornerstone of the organization’s 110 year history. With nearly 340 agencies across the country, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves approximately 200,000 children, their families and 200,000 volunteer mentors.
