David Lloyd Leisure Rolls out Orangetheory® Fitness Group Training to Winchester Studio
LONDON - April 16, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - David Lloyd Leisure (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/) is expanding its high street offering by bringing the unique Orangetheory® Fitness interval group (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/club-finder/winchester-studio/studio-concept-winchester) training programme to its Winchester studio (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/club-finder/winchester-studio).
Europe’s premier health, sports and leisure group (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/) - which exclusively holds the UK and Ireland licence for Orangetheory® Fitness – is launching the one-of-a-kind workout for the Winchester community on May 1st at its first David Lloyd Studio outside London.
Orangetheory® Fitness has been taking the US by storm, and is the country’s first franchise studio concept to use heart rate monitored training for scientifically proven results.
David Lloyd Leisure’s high street studio model aims to give time-pressed clients easy, daily access to exercise and nutritional services on a flexible basis with multiple payment options offered.
Orangetheory is a fun and effective workout for all ages and ability, designed to help achieve personal fitness goals. Each unique 60-minute class at the Winchester studio will cater for up to 20 participants, comprising intervals of cardiovascular and strength training that produce a huge metabolic increase to burn up to an average of 500-1,000 calories per session with extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours after each workout.
The programme features three components - treadmills, rowing machines and weight training blocks - with sessions set to upbeat music and using heart rate monitors to track performance and optimise cardio and resistance training. Benefits include weight loss (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/your-goals/lose-weight), improved fitness (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/your-goals/be-fitter) and increased stamina and muscle endurance.
Hazel Geary, David Lloyd Leisure’s business development director, said: “Orangetheory Fitness group training is incredibly popular with exercise enthusiasts all over the US because it is great fun, challenging and delivers amazing, scientifically proven results.
“We are very proud to be the only health and fitness operator working with Orangetheory Fitness to roll out this groundbreaking workout to the UK market. It has been hugely successful in our London studios since its debut in 2013, and we are delighted that the Winchester community will be the first outside the capital to be able to take part in this exciting workout.
“The new offering at David Lloyd Studio Winchester will enable anyone in the local area and further afield, whose busy lives don’t allow much time for exercise, flexible and easy access to a unique, innovative programme that will help them to achieve their health and fitness goals as part of their daily routine.”
David Lloyd Leisure launched the David Lloyd Studio concept in September 2012 - the first initiative of its kind by a major health and fitness operator in the UK -to provide clients with its internationally renowned expertise in high street locations.
David Lloyd Studio Winchester, which opened in February 2013, will be the group’s fourth high street studio to offer Orangetheory, with additional locations including Islington, Aldgate and Enfield.
