Murphy Business & Financial Corporation Announces New Ownership

Local Business Broker Invests in Premier Business Brokerage Office to Meet Demand in Seattle’s Business Community

May 26, 2015 // Franchising.com // SEATTLE, Wash. – Murphy Business & Financial Corporation, North America’s leading, full-service business brokerage firm with more than 140 offices in the United States and Canada, recently announced the new leadership of its Seattle office. Judy Elrod, a local entrepreneur with 25 years of experience helping businesses, recently assumed ownership of the location. The transition will ensure the western region of the state continues to have access to support with the sale of businesses, purchases, valuations and mergers and acquisitions.

“This is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said Elrod, who lives in Mukilteo. “There is a high demand for business brokerage services in the area and we are eager to meet this need. I am looking forward to driving the growth of the company in the months and years to come.”

As a business owner and broker, Elrod has over 25 years of experience in sales, lending, customer service, technology and strategy. She started her career with Bank of America and rose to a senior vice president role. From there, she also gained the experience to become a chief lending officer in the credit union industry. After leaving the financial services industry, she started her own consulting firm, specializing in small businesses.

In today’s marketplace, Elrod sees an increase in demand for business brokerage services. She acknowledges that individuals reluctant to sell their business during the past three-plus years due to declining prices are experiencing revitalizations within their business and are ready to consider selling again. Plus, there is a growing pool of qualified buyers emerging as unemployment continues at its current rate and as instability within corporate environments remains persistent. We have seen an increase nationally, as well as locally, over the last 12 months of businesses being sold and at higher prices. The industry expects the upward trend to continue in 2015.
