(PRWEB) June 01, 2015 - Worldwide Express, the nation’s leading global logistics franchisor and one of the largest authorized resellers of UPS® express shipping, is pleased to announce the newest addition to its senior management team, Richard Kolman. Today Kolman was named Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Worldwide Express, a portfolio company of Quad-C Management, Inc.
“I’m honored to join Worldwide Express, a dynamic growing company that I’ve long admired, especially during my years as in house counsel for UPS,” Kolman said. “I’m excited to help strengthen the Worldwide Express system so it offers even better opportunities for our valued customers, franchisees, partners and shareholders.”
Kolman brings to Worldwide Express a unique combination of top level experiences in the franchise industry. Beginning his franchise legal career as the youngest attorney in the Legal Department of McDonald’s Corporation, he handled a wide variety of transactional and dispute resolution responsibilities for the world’s largest and most recognized franchise system.
Following his years with McDonald’s, Kolman served as Senior Franchise Counsel for United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS). Kolman played a critical legal role in UPS’s Project Gold Shield: the largest-ever rebranding in franchise and retail history - Mail Boxes Etc. into The UPS Store. Most recently, Kolman served as Vice President of Law and General Counsel for American Driveline Systems, Inc., a portfolio company of American Capital, Ltd., that owns the AAMCO transmission and automotive repair franchise system and several other companies.
Kolman is one of only a handful of in house lawyers to have been elected to serve on the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, after serving in several other senior leadership positions for that organization. He also served in numerous leadership positions for the International Franchise Association (IFA) and on the California State Bar Franchise Law Committee. Kolman is a frequent author and presenter on issues relating to franchise and distribution law.
“With leadership experience in private equity and having served many years as UPS’s former chief franchise attorney, we are delighted to have Rich Kolman join our team,” said Worldwide Express CEO and President Tom Madine. “Beyond his legal expertise, Rich brings strong business acumen, having counseled Fortune 50 companies as well as smaller, more entrepreneurial companies.”
As General Counsel for Worldwide Express, Kolman manages the Legal and Franchise Compliance departments, including overseeing network compliance with system standards. “A fundamental key to positive customer experiences and franchise ownership success is ensuring network-wide adherence to our high brand standards for quality, service and value.” Kolman also works closely within the senior management team of Worldwide Express, offering strategic input and legal options for the company’s key initiatives.
