Tropical Smoothie Café Takes over Manhattan for National Flip Flop Day

CEO of Popular Café Franchise Accepts Ultimate Flip Flop Challenge for Charity

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 03, 2015 - Tropical Smoothie Café, the leading fast casual café concept known for its better-for-you food and smoothies, is kicking its annual National Flip Flop Day fundraising efforts up a notch by challenging CEO Mike Rotondo to walk the length of Manhattan in flip flops to encourage donations for Camp Sunshine. Rotondo will literally go the extra mile this year on June 19th with his New York City trek, and will hand out refreshing free smoothies along the way to help locals and tourists cool down from the summer heat.

Currently in its 9th year of giving back on National Flip Flop Day, Tropical Smoothie Café is dedicated to helping children with life-threatening illnesses and their families by raising funds to benefit Camp Sunshine, a place that provides respite, support, joy, and hope to these children and their families in times of need. On National Flip Flop Day, Mike Rotondo and his cart of delicious smoothies will be stopping at various Manhattan locations to offer passersby a free refreshing beverage to raise awareness for this cause.

The stops along this nearly 7-mile quest are at some of the most iconic landmarks in New York City, including the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, Times Square, Madison Square Park, and Battery Place. For those that cannot be in the city that day, all 430 Tropical Smoothie Café locations nationwide will be offering free 24 oz. Jetty Punch smoothies to all guests wearing flip flops between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on June 19th. Tropical Smoothie Café is committed to reaching $1 million in donations this year and will be fundraising in all cafes throughout the month of June.

“Camp Sunshine is a place where children with life threatening illnesses and their families can escape their everyday lives and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment,” said Mike Rotondo, CEO of Tropical Smoothie Café. “While these kids and their families are facing challenges, I want to get out from behind my desk and walk to show my support. I am beyond excited to slip on my flip flops and make this journey throughout Manhattan to help raise awareness for Camp Sunshine and all that they do.”
