June 08, 2015 // Franchising.com // MCLEAN, Va – Hilton Worldwide announced the appointment of Michael Frits as the general manager of the Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Frits will oversee day-to-day operations of this unique 27 acre oceanfront property that offers 491-guest rooms and 35,000 square feet of meeting space. Managed by Hilton Worldwide, Springmaid Beach Resort will embark on a significant renovation later in 2015 and will be rebranded as a Doubletree by Hilton Resort after renovations are complete. Results-oriented and a team player, Michael has contributed to the success of many hotel operations since joining Hilton in 1993. Most recently, he handled the operations of the 1242-room Hilton Atlanta as Resident Manager, a position he has held since 2009. Prior to his time in Atlanta, Mike held leadership positions in some of Hilton’s most iconic hotels including Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, Capital Hilton in Washington, DC, Hilton San Francisco and Hilton Anchorage.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
He is married to Lisa and they have two children, William, 16 and Allison, 13.
