Church's Chicken® Awards $175,000 In Scholarships To Students In 18 States

175 High School Seniors Receive $1,000 Towards College Tuition

ATLANTA - June 11, 2015 // PRNewswire // - Church's Chicken® recently named 175 high school seniors, throughout 18 participating states, 'Church's® Scholars.' As part of the educational merit Church's Scholars Program, a program of the Church's Partners Foundation, Inc., each of the 175 students was awarded $1,000 towards their college tuitions during the 2015-2016 academic year at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/trade school in the United States.

Funds for the scholarships were raised through guests who purchased coupon booklets at participating company and franchise Church's Chicken® restaurants throughout the 18 states during an October – December 2014 promotion and also direct contributions from franchisees and vendor partners.. More than 7,000 students applied for the scholarships. The selection process for the Church's Scholars Program included a combination of a student's grade point average, their work experience and their involvement in extracurricular school and community activities.

"The empowerment of these deserving students is the primary mission of the Church's Scholars Program," said Ed Brett, President, Church's Partners Foundation, Inc. "Through the Church's Scholars Program and its support for continuing education, these students can overcome obstacles and realize their potential."

The Church's Scholars program is one of many initiatives that emphasize Church's® commitment to the education of the young adults within the communities that the brand serves.
