Duluth-based childcare franchise expects to triple in size over next five years.

The growth will be accomplished by franchising, initially targeting Texas and North Carolina with new markets to be added.

Clark founded Discovery Point Child Development Centers in an Atlanta suburb in 1988 with his late wife, Diane, a former public school teacher. What began as Diane's dream to make a difference in children's lives early on, coupled with Cliff's experience in real estate and building businesses, soon proved to be a popular alternative to existing childcare opportunities with parents and potential franchisees.
After opening the first Discovery Point Child Development Center in 1988, the Clarks expanded to a second center in 1990 and franchising followed in 1991, propelling Discovery Point into a leadership position in the industry.

"Through the years, we've opened quite a few centers," Clark said, "but we didn't grow just for the sake of growth. We grew at a rate we were comfortable with."
