MOD Pizza Coming to Raleigh, North Carolina

Southern Deli Holdings Embarks on New Franchise Venture; Pursues Multiple Locations in N.C.

RALEIGH, NC - (Marketwired - Jul 30, 2015) - MOD Pizza, the Seattle-based company that launched the rapidly growing fast casual pizza segment, has announced the opening of their first store in North Carolina. In a partnership with Southern Deli (SD) Holdings, the 2,200 square-foot MOD is slated to open at 2071 West Millbrook Road, Suite 103 in Raleigh on August, 10, 2015. The store will feature an outdoor patio, a huge 800 degree oven and MOD's signature locally inspired interior. This will be the first of multiple MOD stores that SD Holdings plans to open in North Carolina.

The first 52 guests on opening day will each enjoy a free individual, artisan-style pizza or hand-tossed salad, and the chance to win free pizza for a year. In addition, MOD will be donating 100% of the opening day pizza sales to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina which provides meals to people at risk of hunger in 34 counties.

"We're really looking forward to bringing MOD Pizza to the southeast, and are proud to expand the brand that pioneered the fast casual pizza market," said SD Holdings CEO, Yaron Goldman. "There are a few things that really drew us to the MOD brand -- their unique, localized store design, and, most importantly, a culture that sets them apart from other fast casual brands. We are expecting the Raleigh store to have a really distinct design flare and a customer experience that will set a new standard of service in our region."

"We are very excited to open in Raleigh and to be forging a partnership with Yaron and his team, who understand and support our goal of building a company focused around people. We look forward to sharing the MOD culture and our super friendly atmosphere and service with the Raleigh community and to continue our expansion along the Eastern seaboard," said Scott Svenson, co-foundation and CEO of MOD.

MOD's individual artisan-style pizzas are made on demand, using fresh-pressed dough and signature sauces. Customers can create their own pizzas and salads, using any combination of more than 30 featured toppings, or they can choose from a menu of MOD classics. Pizzas and salads are the same price regardless of the number of toppings. Pizzas are hand-cooked in an 800 degree oven in less than three minutes and salads are hand-tossed in front of the customer. MOD also serves local craft beers, wine, handspun milkshakes, and house-made lemonades and iced teas.

MOD currently has over 60 locations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland and Pennsylvania, with the company on track to be operating 100 stores by the end of 2015.

About MOD Pizza

Seattle-based MOD Pizza, founded in 2008 by Scott and Ally Svenson, was inspired by the couple's love of Italian street-style pizza, their desire for authentic, affordable and fast dining options for their busy family and the idea that a great company could be built around people. By serving its people first, MOD believes its people will be inspired to deliver truly exceptional service to its customers. Putting people first is therefore not just the right thing to do, it is good business...that is what MOD is all about.

The Svensons bring their experience from building two highly successful concepts -- Seattle Coffee Company and Carluccio's, and MOD's team of advisors and executives bring additional experience from iconic brands such as Starbucks, Apple, Panera Bread, Disney, T-Mobile, Dunkin Donuts, Qdoba, McDonald's and Schwartz Brothers Restaurants.

MOD is committed to creating not just a cool place to eat, but an inspired place to work. The company has been recognized as one of the "Top 50 Breakout Brands" by Nation's Restaurant News and ranked as a "Fastest Growing Company" and "Best Places to Work" by the Puget Sound Business Journal. www.modpizza.com The MOD Difference Video
