Cousins Subs® Launches Month Long ‘Combos For A Cure’ Fundraiser

Combo Meal Proceeds to Benefit Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation

September 01, 2015 // Franchising.com // MILWAUKEE – Starting this September, Cousins Subs® will launch its first-ever month of giving fundraiser - ‘Combos For A Cure - to benefit the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation (VLCF).

From Sept. 1st – 30th, a percentage of combo meal sales at all Wisconsin-based Cousins Subs restaurants will go to VLCF to support cancer research and those diagnosed with cancer throughout the state. Cousins Make It Better Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to funding local organizations that address health and wellness, hunger and youth education, will also contribute to the cause with a total donation of $50,000 going to VLCF.

“We are honored to team up with a Wisconsin-based company like Cousins Subs to make such an impact on the lives of people in our community,” said Erin Hareng, Executive Director of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. “The great coach Lombardi once said that people who work together will win – and we know that when organizations like Cousins Subs and Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation come together, we will win over cancer.”

The Wisconsin-based organizations first teamed up in June when they kicked off their partnership with the Make It Better Day initiative, where Cousins Subs distributed more than 700 free lunches to cancer patients, their families and caregivers at all 22 Wisconsin-based Aurora Cancer Care Centers, which include 13 Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinics. Cousins chose VLCF as the beneficiary of the ‘Combos For A Cure’ fundraiser due to its work to provide much needed support to those with cancer.

“We recognize cancer does not discriminate; it impacts people of all ages, in all neighborhoods across Wisconsin,” said Justin McCoy, Vice President of Marketing of Cousins Subs. “By teaming up with the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation, we are able to make an impactful, local contribution to the fight against cancer. We invite our guests to join us in supporting this important cause.”

In 2015, 32,700 people in Wisconsin will hear the words “you have cancer” (newly diagnosed). One out of four of them will choose Aurora Cancer Care. The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation has a more than 30 year relationship with Aurora Cancer Care with a shared commitment to providing exceptional local cancer care. There are 22 Aurora Cancer Care Centers, which include 13 Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinics. Each is dedicated to providing superior treatment close-to-home. Donations by the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation enhance Aurora Cancer Care programs and support locally-led, patient-centered cancer research.
