FASTSIGNS® Recognizes Importance of Manufacturing Day and Celebrates Industry’s Innovation

September 30, 2015 // Franchising.com // CARROLLTON, Texas - As a 30-year veteran of the visual communications industry with strong ties to manufacturing, FASTSIGNS joins the movement to celebrate Manufacturing Day and the creativity, innovation and modern technology of this important industry. In 1985, FASTSIGNS started manufacturing next-day vinyl graphics and today provides signs and visual graphics to thousands of companies and brands.

“Manufacturing is so important to our economy because it is responsible for creating everything from the products to build the homes we live in to the food we eat to the clothing we wear,” explained Catherine Monson, CEO of FASTSIGNS International, Inc. “This industry stimulates job growth and strengthens communities; every job in manufacturing creates another 2.5 jobs in local goods and services.”

Manufacturing Day is held annually on the first Friday of October to engage local communities, educate the public about manufacturing and inform people about careers in the manufacturing industry. To support the efforts of Manufacturing Day, many businesses are hosting educational Open House events and facility tours.

Tom Weber, owner of FASTSIGNS of Eden Prairie and FASTSIGNS of Minnetonka with wife Bev, is hosting a local Manufacturing Day event. “Our equipment will be on display and in action. Guests will also see a demonstration of a vehicle graphic being applied to our boom truck,” Weber said. “We want attendees to get a close look at all of the creative production behind the scenes, ask questions and learn about the visual marketing side of this industry.”

According to the Manufacturing Institute’s 2015 Skills Gap report, six out of 10 manufacturing positions remain unfilled due to the talent shortage and it is expected that 3.4 million manufacturing jobs will be needed over the next decade.

“It is critical to educate future generations on the career possibilities available in the manufacturing industry to ensure new energy and talent,” said Monson. “As a driving factor in our economy, we are proud to be associated with manufacturing.”

As a visual communications provider and custom manufacturer, FASTSIGNS creates high-visibility signs and visual graphics that inform, direct, engage and sell. To learn more about Manufacturing Day and see local events planned nearby, visit http://www.mfgday.com.
