TruGreen Announces Lansing, Michigan as a TruNeighbor City

TruNeighbor Pilot Project Uplifts Lansing Neighborhood

MEMPHIS, TENN. (PRWEB) September 30, 2015 - TruGreen joined the City of Lansing, Michigan today in announcing the latest project in its TruNeighbor program. Under the program, TruGreen will provide funds and in-kind services to help transform the site of a derelict, vacant house and overgrown lot into a dwarf fruit tree orchard, harvestable perennial garden and open space for neighbors to gather and children to play. TruNeighbor is a pilot program intended to support TruGreen’s commitment to help cities increase access to green spaces and beautify communities.

“We at TruGreen take pride in being a ‘TruNeighbor’ to the communities where we live, work and play,” said Craig Raycraft, Michigan region manager for TruGreen. “It’s our hope that by improving the quality of a community’s outdoor spaces we can also improve the quality of life of its residents by helping them to live life outdoors. We are especially grateful to Mayor Virg Bernero for his support in making this happen.”

Thanks to TruGreen’s support, a vacant structure at the lot located at 1845 Osband Avenue in Lansing was recently demolished and the site is currently being redeveloped, with plans for an official unveiling in spring of 2016.

“I couldn’t be more pleased today to see what was once an eyesore for this community begin to undergo such an exciting transformation,” said Mayor Virg Bernero. “I want to thank TruGreen for helping to make this possible and for being a TruNeighbor to Lansing.”

This is the second city to benefit from TruGreen’s TruNeighbor program, which is currently being piloted in select cities across the country. The first TruNeighbor project was completed in Gary, Indiana earlier this month.
