Effectively communicating with and engaging clients with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia has become an increasingly important skill as the number of people diagnosed with dementia continues to rise. Liz Sudberry, Owner of Home Care Assistance Cincinnati, will lead the first part of the training focused on approaches to dementia care. She will cover topics including functional changes in the brain, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, as well as other tips to facilitate and improve interactions and engagement in daily activities.
Client Care Manager and Occupational Therapist Lianne Massa will lead the second portion of the training by presenting step-by-step demonstrations for body mechanics and proper transferring techniques. Caregivers will be able to take advantage of Lianne’s professional expertise through individual guidance and one-on-one help on the best methods for smooth and safe transfers. Lianne will also cover techniques associated with various mobility assistance equipment. Both parts of the training will focus on methods that promote independence, dignity and quality of life for clients.
