Debuting October 20, the Unscripted Competition Series Sets Out to Find America’s Next Big Fitness Phenomenon; Winner’s Program to be Launched at Multiple Retro Fitness Locations

COLTS NECK, N.J. - October 19, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Retro Fitness, the nation’s leading low-cost, high-value fitness franchise, has partnered with Spike TV to discover America’s next big fitness phenomenon.

Premiering Tuesday, October 20 at 10 p.m. EDT/9 p.m. CDT, “Sweat Inc.” is an unscripted competition series hosted and judged by acclaimed health and wellness expert, Jillian Michaels, Suspension Training® creator and TRX founder Randy Hetrick, and celebrity fitness trainer Obi Obadike - one of the most influential fitness authorities on the Internet. The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to develop their brand and launch their program at multiple Retro Fitness locations across the country. The winner will also receive $100,000 and a feature in Women’s Health Magazine.

As the exclusive fitness center featured in the program, the competition series will have the feel of a Retro Fitness location, including branded equipment and its signature red and yellow color scheme, as part of its agreement with Spike. With this, Retro Fitness provided equipment for the set as well as accessibility to its locations, such as its gym in Pomona, Calif.

Retro Fitness prides itself on being at the cutting-edge of industry advancements and offering members the most innovative workout experience. Always thinking 2-3 years ahead, founder and CEO Eric Casaburi and his team have met hundreds of entrepreneurs - like the 27 ambitious contestants to be featured on the show - eager to get their fitness equipment or program into Retro Fitness facilities.

“Not only do you need to have a great product, but you and your team need to have the same passion and enthusiasm toward your product that you would expect consumers to have – this is what catches our attention. If you don’t have that passion, then you have a very difficult road ahead of you,” said Casaburi, who started Retro Fitness in his late twenties and has grown the franchise to more than 135 gyms nationwide.

Over the course of the series, contestants will demonstrate and prove that their idea is poised to become the next innovative exercise program, with the greatest potential for mainstream success. Each episode focuses on a specific fitness category (circuit training, interval training, platform devices, etc.), and highlights three entrepreneurs as they compete to win a spot in the season finale. Every week, the three judges will select one winner from a particular fitness category to advance to the finale. By the end of “Sweat Inc.,” the winning entrepreneur will have demonstrated the highest level of business savvy and innovation, and have a complete workout movement ready for the masses.

Several Retro Fitness locations nationwide will be hosting viewing parties each week in their Retro Cardio Theaters. The show airs Tuesdays through the finale, currently scheduled to premiere on December 22 at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST. Select gyms will be up-and-running with Sweat Inc.’s winning product or class immediately following the finale.

Fans are also encouraged to watch full episodes on Spike.com or the Spike app, and to take part in the conversation by using #SweatInc on Twitter. Viewers can find out more about each entrepreneur and judge, including videos and photo galleries at sweatinc.spike.com.

“Sweat Inc.” is a 10-episode, one-hour series created and produced by 3 Ball Entertainment (“Extreme Weight Loss,” “Bar Rescue”) with Todd A. Nelson, JD Roth, DJ Nurre, Brant Pinvidic and Jill Goslicky serving as Executive Producers. Jillian Michaels and Giancarlo Chersich from Empowered Media also serve as Executive Producers.
