First Dryer Vent Wizard Franchise Opens in British Columbia, Canada

DETROIT, MI - (Marketwired - Nov 11, 2015) - Dryer Vent Wizard (DVW) has announced the opening of the company's first franchise in British Columbia. Founded in 2004, DVW specializes in dryer vent repair, replacement, alteration, cleaning and maintenance for residential and commercial clients.

"We are very pleased to welcome Kelly Comeau of Nanaimo, British Columbia, to our team," said Terry Reuer, CEO of DVW, who reported the company also has franchisees in Ontario and Alberta, Canada.

According to Comeau, who had more than 30 years' experience in the corporate world before investing in his own business, he and his wife Cindy conducted extensive research and found DVW to be among the most progressive.

Their research also found that the Office of the Fire Commissioner in British Columbia indicated the province had 288 reported dryer fires resulting in nine injuries and, thankfully, no fatalities, from 2010 through 2015. These fires totaled more than 30 million dollars in property loss during that time period with the leading cause being clogged vents and improper venting.

In addition to Nanaimo, Comeau services all of Vancouver Island, including Victoria, Campbell River, Parksville-Qualicum, Ladysmith, and Duncan.

"Along with providing a high level of customer service, I want to build consumer awareness about the importance of dryer vent cleaning and maintenance for both fire prevention and energy savings," said Comeau.

In the U.S., it is estimated that poorly maintained or clogged dryer vents are the leading cause of appliance fires, resulting in more than 15,500 dryer fires every year. These are only the reported cases.
