Local Entrepreneur is New Owner of Charlotte-Area Pirtek

Business owner and engineer Viresh Sitapara acquires Pirtek location in Gastonia; the only franchise of its kind, Pirtek provides hydraulic hose replacement sales & services

February 16, 2016 // Franchising.com // Gastonia, NC, USA – Local entrepreneur Viresh Sitapara, a business owner and engineer from the Charlotte area, is the new owner of the Pirtek Sales & Service Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.   Located at 1101 W. Franklin Boulevard, the center features four 24/7 Mobile Service Vehicles and is staffed by team of five fluid transfer solutions technicians. 

A provider of hydraulic and industrial hose replacement sales and services, Pirtek is the only franchise of its kind in the United States.  With 57 locations throughout the country and more than 400 across the globe, the company is continuing to expand its footprint with many new businesses anticipated to launch this year.  The Pirtek Service & Supply Center in Gastonia is one of three in North Carolina, with one in Greensboro and another in Charlotte. 

Sitapara’s background is in engineering and his career has spanned such fields as the space industry and medical technology. His interest in entrepreneurial endeavors is ongoing. He owns a successful health & beauty-related franchise in Pennsylvania, but he stays alert to new opportunities, which is how he found his way to Pirtek.

Sitapara said he did an intensive study of various franchising opportunities and was impressed with Pirtek on several levels. “Pirtek is a young franchise in the United States,” he said. “The business also has a technical aspect which, as an engineer, really piqued my interest. There is a lot of room for expansion. I like the business model and I was familiar with what they do.” 

Sitapara, who is originally from India, came to the United States in 1991. Having already earned his bachelor’s degree, Sitapara began working toward advanced degrees upon his arrival.

“I came here with only 20 dollars in my pocket,” Sitapara said. “I worked two full-time jobs, including a job at a gas station – 80 hours – while I was getting my master’s degree. I don’t sleep much so it helps.”

After getting his master’s degree in space and aeronautics controls, Sitapara went on to earn a Ph.D. in engineering from Kennedy Western University. In addition to English, he speaks Hindi, Urdu, some African languages and his native tongue of Gujarati. 

Sitapara said that purchasing an existing location has obvious advantages over a complete startup. “The business is already operating and has customers,” he said. “That allows me to concentrate on other aspects of the business, instead of focusing on getting things off the ground.”

One edge Sitapara has at Pirtek is his familiarity with the kinds of industrial hoses the company replaces for its customer. During his many years working with a welding company, he was responsible for the manufacture of about 2 million hoses. “I know hoses very well,” he said. 

Accompanying Pirtek’s growth around the country are some new, strategic efforts to raise the company’s profile. Pirtek has already begun rolling out a line of products this year bearing its own corporate branding. The company is also involved in high-recognition sponsorships, such as the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series which features high-performance snowmobile races around the United States. Another notable Pirtek sponsorship will be this May’s Indianapolis 500. The company’s newly formed Indy team Pirtek Team Murray features championship driver Matt Brabham who will race a car displaying the Pirtek logo in front of huge crowds at the historic competition’s 100th running.
