RE/MAX, LLC Buys RE/MAX Alaska Master Franchise

Franchisor Continues Strategy of Reacquiring Independent Regions

April 01, 2016 // Franchising.com // DENVER – Global real estate franchisor RE/MAX, LLC has reacquired the Master Franchise for the state of Alaska, which it originally sold in 1981. The region will now be managed from the company’s corporate headquarters in Denver. While stepping down as region owners, Mark Korting and Jackie Danner will remain owners of the RE/MAX Dynamic Properties brokerage in Anchorage.

“For 35 years, RE/MAX Alaska has been an influential force across the state, setting the bar for professionalism and providing the highest quality of service to homebuyers and sellers,” said Dave Liniger, CEO, Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder of RE/MAX, LLC. “The great reputation that RE/MAX enjoys in Alaska and our many successes there are largely due to the leadership provided by Mark and Jackie.”

Korting founded the region in 1981 and Danner joined him in regional ownership when their two brokerages merged in 2013. Korting has served as president for both the Alaska Association of Realtors and the Anchorage Board of Realtors. He has the distinction of being named a Realtor of the Year by both organizations. Korting has also been recognized with the prestigious RE/MAX Distinguished Service Award.

Danner has been a real estate professional for 40 years. In addition to co-owning RE/MAX Dynamic Properties, the brand’s largest single-office brokerage in the U.S., she also leads RE/MAX Dynamic of the Valley with her husband Frank.

RE/MAX Alaska includes nine brokerage offices with roughly 250 agents. Agents affiliated with RE/MAX represent nearly 15% of Realtors® in the state of Alaska.

“It’s been an unbelievable experience bringing RE/MAX to Alaska and nurturing its growth for all these years. It was a very difficult decision, but the timing is right for a change and RE/MAX, LLC is the only organization that can build on our success and take this region to the next level,” Korting said.

Jeff LaGrange, Region Vice President of RE/MAX Pacific Northwest, and his regional team will coordinate the future growth of RE/MAX Alaska. LaGrange has experience in several RE/MAX regions, and has worked in the company’s regional services department for nine years.

RE/MAX Alaska becomes the 13th company-owned region in the U.S. Earlier this year, the New York region was reacquired and in 2013 the Central Atlantic and Southwest regions became company owned.

RE/MAX has a worldwide network of over 100,000 agents in nearly 100 countries, a global footprint larger than any of its competitors. With three recent sales of company-owned brokerages, RE/MAX offices are 100% franchised, all independently owned and operated.
