Raising Cane’s Opens 1st Restaurant In Downtown KC

Popular chicken finger brand to host grand opening Tuesday in Westport

June 02, 2016 // Franchising.com // KANSAS CITY, MO – It started in Lawrence early last month. Blue Springs followed on May 24. Next Tuesday, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers will continue its pursuit of local chicken finger lovers with the opening of its first restaurant in downtown Kansas City.

The popular Louisiana-based restaurant company known for its ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – will hold its third local grand opening on Tuesday, June 7, in the Westport District, marking the ninth Raising Cane’s in Missouri and the 268th nationwide.

Located at 4040 Mill St., the new restaurant will kick off the festivities at 9:30 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and other city officials. First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 70-80 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.

To add to the opening day excitement, Chiefs mascot K.C. Wolf will join in the celebration from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Mix 93.3 will be playing today’s hits during a live remote broadcast from 12 – 1 p.m. at the restaurant.

In addition, the first 20 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! And the first 100 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive a free Cane’s Kansas City T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen Chicken Fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.

“We’ve only been in the Kansas City area for a short time, but the local Caniac population is already exploding,” said General Manager Julia Deere, who has lived in the area for more than 15 years. “Our Westport crew is excited to open our doors on Tuesday, and we’ve already started pitching in around the downtown area. We’re looking forward to doing even more with the schools and other local organizations in the months and years ahead.”

On June 1, Deere and her fellow crewmembers volunteered with Meals on Wheels, where they prepared meals for homebound seniors. The restaurant was a sponsor of the 2016 Trolley Run and will be sponsoring the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City’s Dog-N-Jog race on June 12.
