Calgary’s First UFC Gym Celebrates Grand Opening On June 25

UFC Lightweight Dustin Poirier to Make Special Appearance; Free Classes Offered All Day 

June 22, 2016 // Franchising.com // Calgary, Alberta – UFC Gym, the fast-growing franchise that combines mixed martial arts (MMA) and fitness, today announced the opening of its first location in Calgary on Saturday, June 25. Located at 6224 Centre St. S, Calgary, AB, this 11,760 square-foot facility serves as the second UFC Gym in Alberta (Sherwood Park) and fourth location in Canada since the company debuted in 2009.

“Our reception to our Gym from the local community has truly been amazing,” said Trevor Dahlen, UFC Gym’s partner in Calgary. “Unlike other Gyms, our coaches include professional caliber athletes with years of experience in an array of training disciplines, eager to share their knowledge and passion with our members. We are pleased to be able to showcase everything UFC Gym has to offer at the grand opening.”

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier will lead a free mixed martial arts demonstration at 12 p.m., with additional free classes and seminars offered throughout the day.

Highlighted by a 30-foot Octagon®, members of this top-of-the-line Gym will also have access to strength training and cardio machines, battle ropes, agility ladders, bag room, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu studio, large group fitness rooms and other functional training equipment for dynamic workouts. The Gym’s explosive workout environment uses cutting-edge training techniques inspired by UFC athletes and provides members with everything needed for the entire family to sweat, move, live and Train Different®.

Opening Day Schedule Of Events:

9:30 – 11 a.m.   Ultimate Training Experience – 90 minute workout

11 a.m.             Fit Fight

12 p.m.             MMA Demonstration – Dustin Poirier  

1 p.m.               Meet & Greet – Dustin Poirier

2 p.m.               Daily Ultimate Training® (DUT®) class

A team of personal coaches will help members work to achieve results through individual and group training. The new location features a UFC Gym retail store, UFC Gym Kids’ fitness classes, Kid Club offering childcare, full amenity locker rooms with dry saunas and an ArmBar® Café.
