July 12, 2016 // Franchising.com // New York, NY - Mamoun’s Falafel, the 40-year-old NYC institution, which serves traditional Middle Eastern food, has announced the signing of a new franchise deal for New Jersey and New York. This new partnership will add to Mamouns’ current portfolio of restaurants which are spread out between New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The new franchisees, Marina and Magdy Yacoub, a father/daughter duo, worked with Hussam Chater, Director of Franchising for Mamoun’s Falafel, and Fransmart on securing a multi-unit deal in which they are currently seeking real estate in their designated territory. The Yacoub’s anticipate having 3 units open in New Jersey and New York over the next few years. Regarding their choice to invest with Mamoun’s, Marina states, “Being Egyptian, we know how to prepare and find great Middle Eastern food; we’ve enjoyed Mamouns Falafel for so many years as customers, and when we discovered they began franchising, we knew we needed to be an integral part in keeping this legacy alive”.
Both Marina and Magdy Yacoub have backgrounds in the food service industry, working in both franchised and non-franchised establishments over the years. They still needed to meet directly with Mamouns’ executive team to convince them of their overall strategy plan for further expansion. Since Marina and Magdy have lived most of their lives in Northern New Jersey, it was reassuring to Mamoun’s to hear they’d be investing in a market they’re familiar with.
Mamoun’s Falafel is focusing on their expansion efforts across the country through a combination of company and franchise owned stores – starting in their home states of New Jersey and New York. Hussam Chater, Director of Franchising for Mamoun’s Falafel commented on the new partnership, stating “We are excited about this opportunity. We feel that the Yacoubs’ background, combined with their passion for the Mamoun’s brand and commitment to excellence, makes them a great fit”
