DUBLIN, Ohio - July 28, 2016 // PRNewswire // - Here's a ride that lets you pay it forward. Today, Wendy's® announces the launch of a partnership with Uber, a technology platform that is evolving the way the world moves, which will raise funds to help find homes for children waiting in foster care. From now until the end of the promotion, Uber will give first-time riders who register with the code '4Adoption' their first ride free (up to $15), and Wendy's will donate $5to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®. They say nothing in life is free, but we respectfully disagree.
"When it comes to the issue of adoption, Wendy's commitment doesn't stop at the doors of our restaurants," said Liz Geraghty, Wendy's vice president of marketing. "With more than 100,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States, this partnership gives people an easy way to make a difference in their community and beyond. We're proud to team up with Uber on this initiative."
It's through programs like this that Wendy's is able to support the Foundation in its commitment to finding permanent and loving homes for children waiting in foster care. As an adopted child himself, Wendy's Founder Dave Thomasknew first-hand the importance of family. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption was born from Dave's firmly held belief that children in foster care "aren't someone else's responsibility, they are our responsibility." Today,Wendy's remains committed to that belief and mission, and supports the organization through in-restaurant activations, partnerships and donations.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more than 130,000 children waiting in North America's foster care systems. Created byWendy's founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national signature programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and innovative grant making.
