August 17, 2016 // Franchising.com // GREENVILLE, SC - The world of fitness franchising has grown dramatically in recent years. And in a landscape once dominated by big-box gyms, the expansion of smaller, more specialized facilities is rapidly gaining ground. One such fitness concept that is achieving a competitive edge over the local marketplace is 9Round, a national chain of kickboxing fitness franchises. And it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
The new gym, owned by Chris and Melanie Rowan, is located in Prospect, KY at 9217-H US Highway 42 and is set to open on Sept. 15. 9Round Prospect uses an intense 30-minute workout focused on kickboxing techniques to achieve a total body workout. This location marks the company’s first gym in Prospect and is included in an expansion plan that calls for one additional location in the area over next few years.
“People of every fitness level can find their place at a 9Round gym. The workouts change daily and are completely customizable based on an individual’s fitness level,” said 9Round Prospect owner Melanie Rowan, who will manage day-to-day operations for the gym. “Not only do these workouts deliver physical results, but they are a great way to overcome mental stress— you can come in here and punch it out when you’ve had a crazy day!”
Prior to the decision to open 9Round Prospect, Melanie held several service-oriented positions, including serving in U.S. Army Reserve and providing administrative support for Northeast Christian Church. Melanie, who had obtained her certification in Health Coaching in 2015, sought to find a career that would allow her to provide guidance in nutrition and fitness. At age 53, Rowan embarked on a new journey as a small business owner and is eager to help individuals of all ages achieve their fitness goals in and around the Prospect, Goshen, and River Bluff, KY areas.
Developed by reigning IKF Light Middleweight Kickboxing Champion of the World, Shannon “The Cannon” Hudson, 9Round workouts consist of nine, three-minute stations of activities that include cardio, weight training, abdominal exercises and kicks and punches on 100-pound, double-end, upper cut and speed bags. A buzzer rings to begin the workout, another to warn the station is ending and a third to signal the end. Members have a 30-second active break between rounds to recover.
There are no class times, trainers are always on site to motivate and lead the workouts, and routines change daily, giving members a fresh workout every time they come in.
9Round of Prospect will be open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
First time visitors get a free 30-minute workout session.
