Zaniac Bolsters North Carolina Presence with 3-Unit Franchise Deal

Planet Fitness Franchisees Add to Portfolio with After-School STEM Enrichment Franchise

SALT LAKE CITY - September 20, 2016 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Zaniac, a national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) franchise where learning feels like play with programs such as Robotics: LEGO®, Game-Based Learning: Minecraft™, 3D Printing and Computer Programming, signed a franchise deal set to bring three campuses to the greater Raleigh area.

CJ Bouchard and Joe Pepe will open the area’s first Zaniac campus at 1202 Parkside Main Street, Cary, North Carolina planned for late 2016. Bouchard was one of the first Planet Fitness franchisees, having opened his first location in 2005, and the two own a combined total of 13 gyms throughout the Raleigh-Durham region.

“My son has been involved with STEM learning from a young age, and his eagerness inspired me to get more involved in the STEM community,” said Bouchard. “That’s exactly why I want to bring Zaniac to the area – to offer parents and students alike more opportunities in STEM and grant them greater access to different learning methods and curricula.”

In addition to the Cary campus, the group plans to open two additional locations by the end of next year. Matthew Pepe, Joe’s brother, will act as the campus’ day-to-day operations manager. He most recently worked as a product strategist and consultant for a number of professionals with technical backgrounds that required STEM-based skills, which he says opened his eyes to the importance of STEM education.

Zaniac campuses are bright and colorful, featuring glass-walled classrooms with white boards and large multimedia screens. The company provides a host of STEM learning programs that make math and science fun for kids while preparing them for 21st century jobs. The brand currently has campuses open in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah, Greenwich and Westport, Connecticut, Winchester, Massachusetts, Southlake, Texas, Asheville, North Carolina, Santa Monica, California, New York City and Miami. Zaniac plans to reach 50 campuses by the end of 2017.

“The technological advancements and career opportunities present in our country demand a shift in our educational climate,” said Sidharth Oberoi, Zaniac’s Chief Academic Officer and President. “Parents are seeking supplemental learning opportunities for their children that encourage them to develop the critical thinking skills found in STEM concepts. Zaniac campuses harness creativity making it a fun, engaging system for educational enrichment.”
