9Round Named One of the Top 50 Franchises for Women for 2017 by Franchise Business Review
February 21, 2017 // Franchising.com // GREENVILLE, SC – Franchise Business Review, the leading market research firm that conducts independent research of franchisee satisfaction, recently named 9Round, the largest and fastest-growing kickboxing franchise in the world, one of the Top 50 Franchises for Women for 2017.
The companies were selected based on feedback from 6,400 female franchisees representing 300 franchise brands who shared their candid thoughts about their franchise. Each participant was asked 33 benchmark questions about their franchisor, focusing on leadership, training, marketing, and core values.
“About 70 percent of our members are women and right around half of our franchisees are women,” said Heather Hudson, co-founder and COO of 9Round. “I think what makes 9Round particularly appealing to women entrepreneurs is how much we celebrate female leaders – women even make up half of our corporate team and we make sure to provide extensive support so that our franchisees hit the ground running.”
Survey participants were also asked to rate their work-life balance and overall enjoyment of running their franchise. Sixty percent of franchisees surveyed from the fitness sector reported a healthy work-life balance.
“Times have changed. Women can choose to work in any field they wish if they’re skilled at it. We’ve learned that many of our women franchisees were about to give up getting back into the work field and then they found 9Round and it was love at first sight. Many were even members who had fallen in love with the brand and simply wanted to make a positive impact in their communities,” added Hudson. “Being a 9Round franchisee gives them more empowerment than working at a corporate job, and our management structure gives women a way to work into a business plan that supports having a family while they grow their business.”
Founded in 2008, 9Round workouts consist of nine, three-minute stations of activities that include cardio, weight training, abdominal exercises and kicks and punches on 100-pound, double-end, upper cut and speed bags. A real boxing bell rings to begin the workout, another to warn the station is ending and a third to signal the end. Members have a 30-second active break between rounds. All 9Round workouts have zero person-to-person hitting, instead, the circuits feature moves designed to blast calories and relieve stress.
In the nearly nine years since launching its franchise opportunity, 9Round has grown to more than 450 locations throughout 40 states and nine countries. More than half of those clubs have opened in the last 24 months alone, including the company’s first locations in Australia, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
Co-founded in 2008 by professional kickboxer Shannon Hudson and his wife, Heather, 9Round is a specialized fitness center that brings boxing and kickboxing fitness training to the average person in a convenient, affordable, 30-minute, full body circuit format. The program is developed around a proprietary and copyrighted system of nine challenging workout stations developed by Shannon himself. Today, there are over 460 9Round clubs open and operating throughout 40 states and nine countries. For more information, please visit www.9round.com.
