AAMCO Franchise Recognizes Longest-Tenured Franchisee for 50-Year Anniversary

Bill Harrison Celebrates Five Decades with Leader in Total Car Care

March 07, 2017 // Franchising.com // HORSHAM, Penn. - AAMCO, the world’s largest chain of transmission specialists and leader in total car care services, proudly recognizes its longest-tenured franchisee, Bill Harrison, for his remarkable 50-year anniversary with the brand. On March 11, 1967, Harrison signed his first franchise agreement to develop a service center in Columbus, Ohio, and has continued to lead the operations throughout the years, including five national recessions over the past five decades. The franchisee plans to retire on July 1 - 50 years after opening his AAMCO location - and will pass the business down to his stepson, who will continue to operate the Springfield, Ohio location.

"When I first sparked the idea to start my own business, I wanted to capitalize on the franchise business model to secure a successful career,” said Harrison. “As I reflect on the past 50 years, I am especially grateful to AAMCO for creating a culture of support and transparency that only improved with time for myself and my fellow network of franchisees. I have worked for many years to ensure that my customers feel comfortable with our services and am proud to pass on the business to my stepson after I retire.”

Harrison embarked on his entrepreneurial journey with AAMCO at the age of 29 in order to build a thriving future for himself and his family. At the time, AAMCO was carving out its reputation in leading transmission repair service. Over the years, Harrison has grown with the brand as it became a household name, and recognized the vast technological and training advancements made to the business model, such as AAMCO University. The franchisee exemplifies the meaning of superior customer service, and has forged meaningful relationships within his community while serving as a mentor to other franchisees within the AAMCO system.

“AAMCO is currently in its 55th year of franchising, therefore Bill Harrison has been a staple part of the brand’s growth and evolution,” said Brett Ponton, CEO and president of American Driveline and AAMCO Transmission, Inc. “He has displayed a tireless work ethic, in addition to ongoing dedication to his customers and community since opening his first location. Although Bill will be greatly missed when he retires later this year, we are confident that his family will continue to carry on the legacy of service and expertise that he established throughout his career for many years to come.”

For more than 50 years, AAMCO’s network of locally owned and independently operated automotive service centers has employed the latest technology. Expert technicians diagnose a repair, fix it right the first time and back it with a nationwide warranty. Known as the world’s leading transmission expert, the company has evolved into a total car care brand that provides a variety of services including brake repair, tune-ups, shocks and struts, routine maintenance and more. AAMCO was named to Entrepreneur’s 2017 Franchise 500 ranking top of its category for the third consecutive year. Based on network size, growth rate and financial strength, last year, the brand also earned a spot on Entrepreneur’s “Best of the Best” list. Additionally, AAMCO has been consecutively ranked on Franchise Times’ Top 200+ for the last two years.

With nearly 650 centers across North America, AAMCO is actively seeking single- and multi-unit franchisee operators who are passionate about the brand and committed to providing the highest quality service. Interested candidates should have a minimum net worth of $250,000 and liquid assets of at least $65,000 per unit. Depending on the real estate site selected, franchisees can expect the total investment to be approximately $227,400 - $333,000 with a $39,500 initial franchise fee. AAMCO offers financing support for qualified candidates. Reduced franchise fees are also available for honorably discharged veterans.
