ServiceMaster Increases Veteran Discount for Franchise Brands

Company makes dream of business ownership even more affordable for nation’s veterans.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - May 23, 2017 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Veterans who want to own their own business can now do so with lower start-up costs, thanks to a 20 percent discount announced today by ServiceMaster Global Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SERV), one of the largest franchisors of service companies in the world.

The company recently increased the discount it offers to veterans who purchase one of its franchises as a way to share its appreciation for their service, and to provide veterans with an even more affordable opportunity to put their leadership skills to work as a business owner.

“As a veteran myself, I couldn’t be more proud of the long history that ServiceMaster has in helping service members transition to civilian life by building successful businesses,” said Mary Kay Wegner, president of ServiceMaster Franchise Services Group and a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

“We have a number of owners within our network who have served our country, and today, they’re making valuable contributions as business leaders in their communities,” said Wegner. “By helping veterans build prosperous futures for themselves and their families, we’re also helping to create jobs, which strengthens local economies - and makes our nation even stronger.”

The 20 percent discount applies to AmeriSpec, a home inspection company; Furniture Medic, a furniture and cabinet repair and restoration business; Merry Maids, a leading home cleaning provider; ServiceMaster Clean, one of the country’s leading commercial cleaning and floor care service providers; and ServiceMaster Restore, one of the leading disaster restoration companies in the nation.

According to Mike Pearce, vice president and chief development officer for ServiceMaster Franchise Services Group, new owners receive extensive training, as well as access to products, systems, marketing support and more, including a home office team that is committed to their success.

There are also expansion opportunities beyond the initial franchise, he said. “As their business grows and an owner looks to expand their footprint in the marketplace, they can do so within the ServiceMaster portfolio rather than purchasing from different franchise providers. We have a number of owners who have franchises in more than one brand.”
