NYC’s Famous Papaya King Opens on the Las Vegas Strip

Iconic Hot Dog Restaurant Keeps Late Hours until 4 a.m. and full bar menu

May 31, 2017 // Franchising.com // Las Vegas, NV - New York City’s iconic Papaya King brought their famous combination of Papaya drinks and specialty franks to the Vegas Strip and added something a bit more appropriate for their new location: late hours and a full service bar. Hungry casino goers can stop in for one of Papaya King's famous franks, tropical beverages, beer, wine, or a cocktail daily from 10 a.m. - 4 a.m. at the company's second Las Vegas location at 3743 S. Las Vegas Blvd in the Hawaiian Marketplace. This is Papaya King’s second location outside of New York.

Founder Gus Poulos was 16 years old when he traveled through Ellis Island toward the American dream and in 1931 he opened the first tropical juice store in New York. The drinks became a hit and he soon later added specialty franks to the menu. New Yorkers, tourists, and more have built a huge fan base surrounding Papaya King. Throughout the years, Papaya King has earned the accolades of several celebrities. Julia Child claimed they serve the “best hot dogs in New York” and Martha Stewart considers them a “guilty pleasure.”

The location on the Strip will offer the same timeless menu as their NYC locations but include an exclusive drink menu as well. Signature cocktails such as the Papaya Colada Papaya Tropical Drink and the Uncle Gus’s Old Fashioned are unique drinks only available at the Las Vegas Strip and created in honor of their iconic NYC location. Don’t look past “The Crown Fishbowl”, which Papaya King touts as “64 oz of Deliciousness in a Collectors Cup.”

“Opening on the Las Vegas Strip is very exciting to the Papaya King team,” said Wayne Rosenbaum, President of Papaya King. “Not only do we offer our full menu to not compromise on the experience of our New York City restaurants, but we’ve also introduced a great drink menu to complement our timeless classics."

Papaya King is expanding nationally through franchising and looking for qualified partners in major U.S. media markets. The NYC restaurant has partnered exclusively with Fransmart, the franchise development company behind the explosive growth of brands like Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Qdoba Mexican Grill, to lead Papaya King's expansion efforts.
