Painting with a Twist to Add Five Studios in California

Nation’s Leading Paint-and-Sip Franchise Experiences Significant Growth in The Golden State after Appearance on “Undercover Boss”

MANDEVILLE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Painting with a Twist, America’s original and largest paint-and-sip franchise, today announced it will add five more studios throughout California in 2017, contributing to a grand total of 349 total studios in 39 states. This announcement marks the brand’s most significant expansion in the state since signing its first California franchise in 2013.

The company has recently signed single-unit franchise agreements to bring studios to Costa Mesa, Lakewood, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Thousand Oaks, which are all set to debut by the end of the year. The influx of new studios add to the existing four locations Painting with a Twist operates throughout Southern California.

“We have finally arrived on the West Coast in more numbers and franchise interest now is the highest that we have received from the Golden State in our franchising history,” said Michael Powers, Managing Director of Painting with a Twist. “Our recent appearance on ‘Undercover Boss’ catapulted our brand popularity in areas where we haven’t had much of a presence in the past and we’re now excited to show Californians why we are ranked the No. 1 paint-and-sip studio in the country for the past four years in a row.”*

In January, Painting with a Twist Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer Renee Maloney went undercover on CBS’ hit series, “Undercover Boss” where she transformed the lives of four Painting with a Twist employees and shared the story of Painting with a Twist’s rise from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina into America’s largest paint-and-sip franchise.

The growth in California reflects the brand’s expansion in new markets throughout the country. In addition to the 39 states in which the company currently operates, Painting with a Twist will also open its first studios in Wisconsin, New Mexico and Arizona by the end of the year.

At Painting with a Twist, locals come together to experience a unique ‘getaway’ that often becomes a routine and favorite place to meet and join friends while creating a personal masterpiece of their own . Led by local art instructors, guests paint on bare canvases using paint and brushes provided by the studio. There are more than 9,000 original pieces of copyrighted artwork, ranging from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of animals, iconic buildings and florals, which have all been conceptualized and produced by Painting with a Twist art instructors. In addition to the typical 16” x 20” canvas, the franchise also offers classes using different mediums to paint on including, smaller and larger canvases, seasonal set mini canvases and wooden cutouts, which are available in various seasonal shapes.
