Quaker Steak & Lube® Guests Donate More Than $11,000 To Folds Of Honor
Fundraising partnership with Budweiser provides scholarships to families of fallen or disabled soldiers.
WESTLAKE, Ohio - August 02, 2017 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The award-winning, family casual-dining restaurant Quaker Steak & Lube®, in partnership with Budweiser® and Anheuser-Busch wholesalers, has raised $11,248 for the Folds of Honor organization, which honors the sacrifices of fallen and disabled service men and women by providing educational scholarships for their spouses and children. Donations were garnered from Quaker Steak & Lube guests from Memorial Day through July 4th.
During the 6-week fundraising campaign, Quaker Steak & Lube guests were invited to “round up” their check amount to the next dollar or more. Alternately, guests could donate by texting #QSL4FOLDS to a short code from their phones.
“These donations will be used for two $5,000 scholarships,” shared Rocky Sickmann, Senior Vice President at Folds of Honor, and survivor of 444 days in captivity during the Iranian hostage crisis. “We are very grateful for the generosity of Quaker Steak & Lube customers — together we are changing lives,” he added.
Custom Budweiser 16 oz. Camouflage aluminum bottles were also available at select Quaker Steak & Lube locations during the Folds of Honor campaign. Budweiser donated a portion of the proceeds from these sales to Folds of Honor.
“It’s truly our honor to be in this partnership with Budweiser to garner donations for Folds of Honor,” said John Ponczoch, Senior Vice President of TravelCenters of America’s and leader of the TA Restaurant Group, which owns and franchises Quaker Steak & Lube. “We are inspired by the sacrifices of our military men and women, and are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of helping to provide scholarships for their families.”
