DreamMaker Kitchen Renovation Wins Top Creative Design Award

August 30, 2017 // Franchising.com // DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Ogden, Utah, has won a 2017 Chrysalis Award for remodeling excellence for a kitchen renovation that includes an old barn door as a sliding partition.

The annual Chrysalis Awards winners are hand chosen remodelers who display the best overall design, creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

The kitchen remodel was for clients with a large family of married children and many grandchildren. Before the renovation they only had a small family room/kitchen, says Nate Coombs, who owns the DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen in Ogden.

“Their dining room was seldom used, so they knew the dining room wall had to go, so we moved the 1990’s kitchen from the middle of an adjacent long room to enlarge the dining area with a total open space.”

The retrofit also included white shaker cabinetry, a 10-foot island with darker cabinets, reclaimed wood and a farmhouse sink. A large barn door separates the kitchen from the living room when privacy is desired and a quaint Dutch door leads to the back deck.

The clients are thrilled with their beautifully updated space, which now comfortably accommodates their family. “Now when we have the family over we can easily have multiple cooks in the kitchen. Whether in the dining room, family room or kitchen we’re all together.”

“To win an award in this highly competitive category is quite an achievement,” says Ken Kanline, Director of the Awards. The Chrysalis Awards program, begun in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in fifteen general categories of residential and commercial remodeling. The awards are open to every professional remodeler and design professional in the United States.

DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen has won similar awards such as the NARI COTY Award in 2006 & 2013, Remodeling Magazine’s Big 50 Award in 2013, and several DreamMaker Awards from franchise headquarters.
