Sunny Street Begins Major Expansion In Texas

20 Store Development Planned Over Next 4 Years

September 11, 2017 // Franchising.com // COLUMBUS, OHIO - Sunny Street Café is rapidly expanding its presence in Texas. The breakfast-lunch restaurant has announced a 20 store agreement to develop the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex over the next 4 years.

“Dallas-Fort Worth has been seeing huge growth across the board, including jobs, homes and retail development,” said Scott Moffitt, president of Sunny Street Café. “It is a thriving city with many unique markets, many of which are still underserved. We see huge potential. We already have a successful franchise base in the area, but just needed the right group to grow it. ”

With the support of a silent invesment group, the brand decided the timing was right to broaden their reach. Five leases are already signed for North Dallas, Little Elm, Roanoke, Allen, and Coppell, with construction currently underway on the first three, respectively. Restaurants in North Dallas and Little Elm are expected to open by the end of the year.

“This is a really exciting time for us,” says Mike Stasko, Vice President of Brand Strategy. “With this expansion we are really springboarding our development in Texas. We expect to double the size of our brand over the next three years.”

New restaurants will open with the brand’s modernized prototype, which features a large community table, private meeting room, and updated decor package. The updates also include a streamlined and more energy efficient back of house, along with a catering prep area for their ever-expanding catering business.

Sunny Street Café currently has 3 restaurants operating in Dallas-Fort Worth. Two of the current franchisees already open in Dallas are also looking to expand their footprint and add second and third locations. Additionally Sunny Street Café is vetting multi-unit deals. “We bring a lot to the area with our homestyle breakfast and lunch,” says Stasko. “Our menu is chef-driven and unique but still accessible to our guests. Sunny Street has always been a bright and comfortable gathering place for the community. We offer not just great breakfast but really make sure to connect to the community at large.”
