Tutor Doctor Names Scott Thompson New VP of Global Franchise Development
Franchise Industry Veteran Set to Push Private Tutoring Franchise to New Worldwide Heights
September 19, 2017 // Franchising.com // VAN NUYS, Calif. – Seeking to increase its presence in communities all over the world, Tutor Doctor has hired Scott Thompson to serve as the company’s new Vice President of Global Franchise Development.
A 16-year veteran of the franchising industry, Thompson joins the fastest-growing private in-home tutoring franchise on the heels of a four-year stint as the VP of Franchise Development for Premium Franchise Brands, where he oversaw the development of cleaning companies JAN-PRO and Maid Right. Throughout his trek within the franchising sector, Thompson has also held development roles with WellBiz Brands, Inc. and Desjoyaux Pools, spearheading the France-based pool company’s expansion plans in the United States.
“Adding Scott to the Tutor Doctor team will help us achieve our goal of serving every student we possibly can in territories all over the world,” said Frank Milner, President of Tutor Doctor. “We look forward to his experience and knowledge in the franchising space to both attract new prospective franchisees and master franchisees to our company as well as to help our current franchisees expand their businesses.”
The global private tutoring sector has seen a dramatic rise over the last five years and is expected to surpass the $102 Billion mark in annual consumer spending by the end of 2018. Tutor Doctor currently operates in more than 500 territories across 16 countries, serving more than 270,000 students in those regions.
Most recently, Tutor Doctor has seen rapid growth in the United States by expanding its territories in both Chicago and Philadelphia, with a further international push slated for the United Kingdom, Australia and Latin America.
“It is a very exciting time at Tutor Doctor, growing by around 100 franchises per year in an industry that sees more than $100 Billion each year in spending,” Thompson said. “But even with this type of growth, we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface. We have aggressive development goals in place for the next five years and aim to have an additional 1,000 franchises in place during that timeframe. We want families across the globe to experience our unique, one-to-one education model in the comfort of their homes. I am honored and eager to be tasked with driving the growth of Tutor Doctor at the global scale.”
Tutor Doctor is on schedule to close 2017 with 600 territories around the globe, up 100 from its 2016 year-end total.
