New Premium Barbershop Franchise, ‘Griff’s Ace Barbers & Shave Bar™’ Launches for the Modern Man

Fast-Growing 18|8 Fine Men’s Salons Creates New Brand to Fill the Underserved Gap in the Industry

October 26, 2017 // // IRVINE, Calif. - When it comes to creating salons that are a sanctuary for men, 18|8 Fine Men’s Salon has perfected the spot. The brand has grown nationally to 100 locations in just five years of franchising the full-service premium salon concept specializing in an elevated experience for men’s hair styling and grooming. Now, the entrepreneurs behind 18|8 are setting out to transform the American barbershop into a modern-day setting with the launch of a new franchise, Griff’s Ace Barbers & Shave Bar™.

Griff’s Shave Bar is rooted in the traditional barbershop experience while appealing to the modern man. The premium barbershops will feature industrial vintage décor, today’s music and top-notch service in a comfortable space. The goal is to give men quick, easy service that does not sacrifice quality.

Scott Griffiths and Ron Love co-founded 18|8 in 2001 and began franchising the popular California-based salon in 2012. The brand now spans 26 states and there are more than 200 in development. As the nation’s leading full-service men’s salon, the entrepreneurial duo says there is a gap in the industry that Griff’s Shave Bar will fill.

“We have created Griff’s Shave Bar to meet the needs of young men who are looking for top-notch services at an affordable price in a more casual setting,” said Scott Griffiths, Co-founder and CEO of Griff’s Shave Bar. “Our experience in this industry has made our salon and barbershop brands admired throughout the franchise world and we’re proud to introduce Griff’s Shave Bar as the newest extension of the 18|8 family of brands.”

Griff’s Shave Bar gets its name from the Griff’s product line sold exclusively at 18|8 salons nationwide. The proprietary water-based haircare and shave products are made from the finest ingredients and include mustache wax, aftershave, post-shave balm, shaving cream, shave prep, pomades and scalp conditioner.

A corporately-owned location of Griff’s Shave Bar is currently operating in Irvine, California. The brand is focusing on expansion in contiguous locations where there are clusters of 18|8 Fine Men’s Salons, through franchising and company-owned stores. The total initial investment to open a Griff’s Ace Barbers & Shave Bar ranges from $219,055 - $375,343 and is optimized with smaller footprints of 600 - 1,100 square feet. Franchisees are not required to have a haircare background, but rather business acumen, and terrific people skills, and a desire to further the brand’s mission to help men transform themselves to look, feel, and perform their best.

“The investment to open a Griff’s Shave Bar is about half the cost of a full-service men’s salon like 18|8. We are looking to bring our experience, authenticity, and field support, in the men’s grooming industry to our current and a new set of franchisees and customers across the country,” said Griffiths.
