Blink Fitness Celebrates Members with Disabilities In New Social Media Campaign to Demonstrate All Bodies Are Able Bodies

Company receives award from Mayor de Blasio and the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities.

NEW YORK - Nov. 8, 2017 // PRNewswire // - Blink Fitness, the premium quality, value-based gym strives to be a place where gym goers of all shapes and sizes feel welcome. Since launching the company's original "Every Body Happy" platform, the gym has challenged industry norms by celebrating how exercise makes you feel, not just how it makes you look. Blink Fitness recently and proudly earned the Title III ADA Sapolin Accommodation Award from Mayor de Blasio and the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities for being Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. Today, Blink recognizes members who are defying the odds and maintaining physical fitness while living with disabilities.

"Blink Fitness has shown a true commitment to embracing and advancing New Yorkers with disabilities," said Commissioner of the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, Victor Calise. "Everybody deserves a space where they can safely and independently exercise. Blink is that space and we're honored to present this award to them."

Through Blink's "Every Body Happy" platform, the company has been highlighting real members in their ad campaigns and social content in order to challenge gymgoers and potential gymgoers to think about body acceptance and approaching fitness differently. This includes creating an environment for everyone of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels to feel comfortable while working out. To further demonstrate the company's commitment to making fitness accessible for all, Blink Fitness is kicking off a social media program called "All Bodies Are Able Bodies," celebrating real, inspirational Blink members that truly exemplify what it means to put Mood Above Muscle™. Within a series of videos, Blink members and staff share what having a disability means to them, how it has positively impacted their lives, and how they - just like anyone else - can push themselves to be better, stronger, and happier through exercise.

"At Blink, we are always inspired by our members who have played an important role in helping us build the open and welcoming environment that we have. We are proud to nurture these relationships and continue to work toward making Blink the best we can be for every body," said Todd Magazine, President of Blink Fitness. "This award from the Mayor's office is not only an honor for us, but it also gives us an opportunity to say 'thank you' and shine the spotlight back on our incredible members."
