Spaulding Decon, Nation’s Leading Biohazard Cleanup Franchise, Opens in Alpharetta

Industry Enthusiasts and Local Entrepreneurs Look to Aid Disasters and Bring Ease to Community Members

November 28, 2017 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - Led by a retired Atlanta Police Department detective and his wife, Spaulding Decon has expanded its presence in the state of Georgia. With the desire and proper training to assist communities in need, Patrick and Sandra Apoian have opened Spaulding Decon, a leading environmental cleanup franchise. The married business partners have opened the doors to their cleanup business at 155 Enterprise Drive, Cumming, GA.

The company specializes in crime scene and hoarding cleanup, mold remediation and biohazard decontamination. Spaulding Decon is also the only franchise that offers meth lab cleanup in the area. In an effort to make a tragic event as easy on the family as possible, the Alpharetta Spaulding Decon also offers to purchase a property if a client can’t afford the cleaning service, or was already looking to sell. The company also understands the importance of privacy in trying times and is proud to stick to a 100% confidentiality standard.

Spaulding Decon is thriving in a recession-proof industry, and this is exactly why the Apoian’s jumped at the opportunity to bring the franchise to Alpharetta as soon as it presented itself. Known for being drawn to careers that allow him to make a difference, Patrick founded Humble Heroes- in 2009 - a nonprofit organization that provides moral and financial support to public safety officers who are ill or injured. For 14 years, Patrick worked as Atlanta Police Department detective, allowing him to serve citizens of Georgia and impact communities positively. On the force, Patrick was seriously injured in a 2011 hit-and-run incident while investigating a robbery and was forced to put his detective duties on hold.

Throughout his recovery, Sandra, a cancer survivor and stay-at-home mother of two, explored new career opportunities that would allow them to remain active in helping others. Enter Spaulding Decon. The franchise allows the pair to build a career at home, help those in a time of tragedy and need, and allows Patrick to remain in his preferred field, surrounded by the ones who mean the most to him, e.g. his fellow detectives.

“Our customers come to us after they experience serious incidents,” said Patrick Apoian. “Often, these accidents take place at homes, causing significant damage to the structure or creating a biohazard risk. That’s where we step in. We aid, restore, and ease those who use Spaulding Decon’s environmental cleanup services. My wife and I are thrilled to be part of an organization that provides much needed services to individuals across the country and we look forward to aiding all in the Atlanta area.”

The company was initially founded when Laura Spaulding-Koppel, an Army veteran who in 2005 was serving as a police officer in Kansas City, was called to the scene of a double homicide in a family’s home. The homeowners naturally thought law enforcement would clean up the mess. Shocked and disappointed to learn it was their responsibility as the property owner, Spaulding, an action-oriented business woman, personally worked with the family to finish the cleanup. The experience led her to found Spaulding Decon, with Decon standing for decontamination.

The Spaulding Decon office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with emergency cleanup service available 24/7. For more information, please call 770-865-0999 or visit www.spauldingdecon.com/alpharetta.
