New Dog Wizard Dog Training Franchise Opens in Gastonia, NC

The Dog Wizard Franchise offers a wide variety of dog training services, including aggression rehab, baby prep, leash walking, obedience, problem solving, puppy classes, rescue rehab, separation anxiety and socialization.

GASTONIA, N.C. (PRWEB) December 04, 2017 - Experienced Dog Wizard trainer Melanie Perry is pleased to announce that she’s opening her own franchise location in Gastonia, North Carolina.

The Dog Wizard offers a wide variety of dog training services, including aggression rehab, baby prep, leash walking, obedience, problem solving, puppy classes, rescue rehab, separation anxiety and socialization. The Gastonia Dog Wizard serves Gastonia, Kings Mountain, Shelby, Gaffney and the surrounding areas.

Perry has been working with animals since she was a teenager and, for the last five years, she’s been a full-time trainer at The Dog Wizard’s flagship location in Charlotte. Before that she worked in dog grooming and pet sitting, as an assistant at a veterinarian’s office and, most recently, as the kennel manager at a local day camp and boarding facility. She has also fostered or rescued more than 30 animals – including her two current dogs, hound mix Piper and Pomeranian mix Foxy.

“I love dogs and helping people love their dogs. Before I got into dog training, I didn’t realize there were so many dogs who needed training and people who needed to know training is an option. You should be able to enjoy your life with your pet and sometimes that comes down to behavioral correction,” Perry said. “From the minute I started working with The Dog Wizard five years ago I knew I eventually wanted to open my own franchise location. I’m excited to do that here in Gastonia.”

Perry has personally trained approximately 575 dogs during her time with The Dog Wizard Franchise. She said, with every animal (and family) it all starts with building relationships and setting the groundwork. She said it’s best to get dogs into training right away with puppy classes, but if you adopt an older dog or you have a dog with behavioral issues, it never hurts to call and talk to a trainer about options.

“When you get a dog as a puppy, it’s important to lay that foundation of obedience. Puppy classes can make a big difference. But when you get a dog later in life or you have an older dog with behavioral challenges, knowing when to call a trainer can be more difficult. Whether your dog is pulling on the leash during a walk or is acting fearful or aggressive in the home, there are training techniques we can do to correct the problems. It’s never too early to call. Don’t wait for there to be a bigger problem before you think about training,” Perry said.

Although there are other training options out there, Perry said The Dog Wizard is different because it’s not a pre-designed program for every dog.

“We are not a cookie cutter training program. We meet with every client and get to know every dog so we can help create solutions for every situation. We cater to the dog and their individual needs. That training philosophy and our excellent customer service is what sets us apart from other training options out there,” Perry said.

The Dog Wizard Franchise is an emerging and successful dog training franchise system based in Charlotte. The company was founded in 2005 by Gretchen Hollifield, who recently partnered with Franchise Funding Group in Cincinnati to accelerate the franchise system’s growth and help positively impact more dogs and families throughout America. There are currently 20 franchise locations in the United States.

“The Dog Wizard is really a family. I worked at our flagship location in Charlotte and that’s where everyone comes through training, so I feel like I know everyone else in the organization and I have a network of experienced professionals I can turn to – whether I need help with a particular animal or I have a business question. It’s a great family to be a part of and I’m excited about the national expansion on the horizon,” Perry added.

About The Dog Wizard

The Dog Wizard was started out of love for dogs and a burning desire for a better and more fulfilling life. After graduating from Wake Forest, where she was a point guard on the women’s basketball team, Gretchen Hollifield found herself working a traditional office job 50+ hours a week stuck behind a desk, trapped inside all day, and with very little excitement and joy in her work life. She dreaded going to work and finally reached her breaking point and escaped. Her real passion was being around dogs. So in 1997, with courage and faith, Gretchen became a certified dog trainer. But sadly, the expensive certification company, like most, only gave her technical training and didn’t properly prepare her to market, operate, and grow a successful and substantial business. She struggled until she developed her own proprietary marketing, operating and dog training systems under her The Dog Wizard brand in 2005. Her perfected business model was a success and her income soared as she added more dog trainers to her business. Gretchen then wanted to offer this superior business model and satisfying lifestyle to other dog lovers wanting their own business and freedom. In the summer of 2013, she launched The Dog Wizard as a franchise system. Learn more at TheDogWizardFranchise.com.
