January 24, 2018 // Franchising.com // FORT WORTH, Texas - Gatti’s Pizza celebrated a milestone year for franchise development in 2017. Two years since purchasing the iconic pizza chain, the new ownership rolled out two new prototypes for the brand: Mr. Gatti’s, the family fast casual concept with small arcade, and Gatti’s Pizza, the pizza buffet with family entertainment center.
To support the reenergized brand, the company opened up a record number of corporate-owned locations, including four DFW-area restaurants featuring the new prototypes. Behind an energized ownership group, this key focus on franchise development has created a rich pipeline of new leads converting into new franchisees. Gatti’s Pizza signed on its first franchise for the brand in seven years, which will open a new location in Killeen, Texas in early 2018. The deal marked the company’s return to franchising and kicked off a national development campaign with a goal to grow to 300 locations by 2022.
Alongside the updated looks, Gatti’s Pizza gave the menu some tasty additions too. A variety of new product offerings included flatbread pizzas, new salads and desserts. In October, the company followed with Take-and-Bake pizzas, blending the best of takeout with fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza. Chicken wings also flew onto the scene, a permanent addition by the end of the year.
“In all my years in the restaurant business, I’ve never seen an organization accomplish all that we’ve achieved in 2017 alone across the Gatti’s Pizza network,” said Michael Poates, President of the Fort Worth-based brand. “We are excited about the resurgence of this legendary brand and reconnecting with its loyal and passionate guests. The brand will continue to flourish with a fantastic team of franchisees and the most dedicated corporate staff in the industry behind it.”
