Local Entrepreneur Opens Hammond’s First Kumon Franchise as New Report Suggests Continued Boom of Tutoring Industry

March 05, 2018 // Franchising.com // HAMMOND, La. - After seeing the success her nieces and nephews were having in the Kumon Math and Reading Program, Roshni Patel wanted to enroll her small children. The only problem - the closest Kumon Center was 45 minutes away. Having worked in the hospitality franchise industry for 15 years and now seeing a high demand for supplemental education opportunities in her community, she decided to open Kumon Math and Reading Center of Hammond.

“As of mom of three kids under the age of six, I want to provide the highest quality of education for my children, but was unable to drive 90 minutes round-trip twice a week to the closest Kumon Center,” said Patel, owner and Instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Hammond. “I’ve worked in the franchise industry for 15 years, but I am excited for the opportunity to spread my wings into the supplemental education sector. I look forward to providing accelerated learning opportunities for the community of Hammond.”

As parents continue to prioritize educational opportunities outside of the classroom in order to compete in today’s competitive environment, communities across the country, like Hammond, are seeing a high demand for supplemental services. In fact, according to a new report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., the global market for private tutoring services is forecast to reach $227 billion by 2022.

The Kumon Method empowers preschool to high school aged children to become self-learners and is designed to advance math and reading skills while fostering a love for learning. It goes beyond traditional tutoring by actively developing critical thinking skills as children progress independently through a carefully crafted curriculum.

“It is apparent now, more than ever, that there is a high demand for supplemental education opportunities in communities across the country,” said Larry Lambert, vice president of franchise recruitment at Kumon North America. “We are fortunate for the opportunity to open Hammond’s first Kumon Math and Reading Center and look forward to bringing the benefits of the program to as many children as possible.”

There are 10 Kumon Math and Reading Centers in the state of Louisiana. The new center in Hammond is part of Kumon’s 2018 expansion plan of welcoming 100 new franchisees nationwide.

Kumon sparks critical thinking, establishes a pattern of success and builds confidence that can lead to accelerated learning throughout life. Learn more about the Kumon franchise opportunity today: https://www.kumonfranchise.com/.
