35 Years of Providing Academic Excellence to Southern California

Kumon’s Los Angeles Branch Celebrates Milestone Anniversary

March 16, 2018 // Franchising.com // LOS ANGELES - Kumon, the world’s largest after-school math and reading program, proves that instilling a love for learning is both timeless and borderless. Kumon’s aspiration, which began with a parent and a child in Japan 60 years ago, is to maximize the potential of each individual through learning. In 1983, Kumon decided to expand to North America and opened its first U.S. office in Los Angeles. Today, the Los Angeles branch office of Kumon North America celebrates its 35th year of bringing academic enrichment to thousands of children across Southern California.

“We are extremely proud to have served families across Southern California for the past 35 years and are appreciative of the reception that Kumon has received in these communities,” says Mike Cho, Los Angeles branch manager for Kumon North America. “Kumon’s mission is to provide as many children as possible with an academic advantage and love for learning. We wouldn’t be able to do that without the support we’ve received from communities across our branch.”

The branch office supports the franchise operations of 114 Kumon Centers in Southern California, which serves nearly 22,000 math and reading subject enrollments.

The Kumon Method empowers preschool to high school aged children to become self-learners and is designed to advance math and reading skills while fostering a love for learning. It goes beyond traditional tutoring by actively developing critical thinking skills as children progress independently through a carefully crafted curriculum.

Discover how Kumon sparks critical thinking, establishes a pattern of success and builds confidence that can lead to accelerated learning throughout life.
