The Bloc And Alamo Drafthouse Invite Music And Movie Lovers To Celebrate Summer With Skyline Sound + Cinema Events

The 2018 Rooftop Series Launches with The Greatest Showman Sing-Along on June 21st in Downtown Los Angeles in Partnership with ALT 98.7

May 10, 2018 // // LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Bloc, Los Angeles' premier urban shopping and dining hub, in partnership with acclaimed cinema-eatery Alamo Drafthouse and ALT 98.7, L.A.'s New Alternative, opens its rooftop for the Skyline Sound + Cinema series, an elevated film and concert experience in the heart of downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). The first installment of the four-part event takes place June 21st on The Bloc's rooftop - a spacious, outdoor location that offers panoramic skyline views and seats over 800 -- featuring a performance by singer-songwriter Cary Brothers and an interactive sing-along screening of the smash musical THE GREATEST SHOWMAN.

"We are thrilled to partner with Alamo Drafthouse and ALT 98.7 to host the Skyline Sound + Cinema Series on our expansive rooftop, providing guests with the city's best skyline views as they enjoy this premium cinematic and musical experience," said Meg Byrne, Branding and Marketing Manager of The Bloc. "Our vibrant, open-air space is the perfect setting for people to gather and experience the best part of our city - downtown."

Film selections for the Skyline Sound + Cinema series will be curated by Alamo Drafthouse, an Austin, Texas-based theater chain opening its first Los Angeles location at The Bloc later this year, and the city's best up-and-coming bands - selected by ALT 98.7 radio host Tobi Lynn - will serve as pre-show entertainment.

"At Alamo Drafthouse we're constantly striving to create the greatest movie-going experiences for audiences everywhere, and with our Rolling Roadshow series of outdoor screenings, that means finding incredible locations and pairing them with the perfect titles for Movie Parties," said Alamo's VP Events and Partnerships Henri Mazza. "We're ecstatic to work with The Bloc to provide DTLA with the perfect night out through stellar cinema and live sunset concerts featuring great LA bands."

As Alamo Drafthouse's kitchen will be under construction during the series, guests can enjoy featured food from The Bloc restaurants The Urban Oven, HATCH Yakatori + Bar and Everytable, along with of-the-moment DTLA eateries. A selection of craft brews, wines and spirits will also be available to complete the entertainment experience.
