BIGGBY® COFFEE Co-CEO, Mike McFall, to Speak at Conscious Business Event

McFall Will Share His Views on Why Being Conscious Matters in Life and Business

September 27, 2018 // Franchising.com // East Lansing, MI - BIGGBY® COFFEE is excited to announce that Rudolf Steiner School parent and Co-CEO Mike McFall will be joining Conscious Capitalism Guru Nathan Havey (Thrive Consulting) and Rudolf Steiner School’s own Siân Owen-Cruise in an event talking about why being conscious matters. As it relates to business, education, and organizational management, conscious companies are making a difference in the world and BIGGBY® COFFEE is helping lead the charge!

Born and raised in Michigan, Mike graduated from Milford High School and continued his studies at Kalamazoo College. After circumnavigating the globe in high school, a study abroad experience in Sierra Leone, West Africa and four varsity letters in golf, Mike graduated with a degree in Economics. His journey with BIGGBY® COFFEE started at the original store in East Lansing in 1996 as a minimum wage barista. Twenty-two years later with business partner Bob Fish, they have created one of the great specialty coffee brands in America.

In 2014, Bob and Mike (otherwise known as BaM!) spent time exploring the idea of a higher purpose and made the all-in decision to change the way that BIGGBY® COFFEE operated. They decided to put people first. After months and months of research and interviews, it was perfectly clear that while BIGGBY® had become a well-known brand focused on specialty beverages and an upbeat atmosphere, it had come at the cost of employee happiness.

Since then, the leadership group at BIGGBY® COFFEE has been working hard to keep the company purpose front of mind when making any decision. The BIGGBY® COFFEE purpose is as follows: We exist to support you in building a life you love. The “you” is just that…you! Each and every person that BIGGBY® COFFEE comes in contact with will feel the positive impact of this moral compass in action. So while the BIGGBY® family works hard every day to spread love through coffee and friendship, we’d love for you to hear more of the story directly from Mike himself!

Join us Wednesday, October 17 from 7:00-10:00PM at Rudolf Steiner High School (2230 Pontiac Trail in Ann Arbor)! Be sure to check out the BIGGBY® COFFEE Facebook event for more information and to purchase tickets.

BIGGBY® COFFEE, East Lansing, Mich.-based, was started with a single store on March 15, 1995. One year later, and on the cusp of opening a second location, Bob Fish and Michael McFall, on a handshake and $4,000, decided to franchise the concept. BIGGBY® COFFEE’s cultural values of Make Friends, Have Fun, B Yourself, and Share Great Coffee help coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike benefit from a less pretentious and fun approach to the standard gourmet cafe paradigm. Besides connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear® and Caramel Marvel®, BIGGBY® baristas provide a unique experience focused on brightening their customer’s day and supporting them in building a life they love. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY® COFFEE has 275 cafes open or under contract across ten states including: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, and New Jersey. In 2018, BIGGBY® launched an Area Representative Program and currently has 4 area representatives in 4 states.
