Barberitos Named Best Burrito In Athens For 16 Consecutive Years

Continuing to win the heart of Burrito lovers is a dream come true for local Southwestern Grille & Cantina Owner.

October 05, 2018 // Franchising.com // Athens, Ga. - For the 16th year in a row, Barberitos took home first place in the “Best Burritos” category during the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards held by the “Athens Banner-Herald.” This year’s results were released on August 23.

For 2018, the Readers’ Choice Awards included contestants among categories that included Best in Dining, Shopping, Service, People and Entertainment. Once voting ended, the Athens Banner- Herald reported that nearly 117,000 votes had been collected, nearly tripling the number of votes from last year.

“Being named ‘Best Burrito’ for the 16th year in a row is a huge honor for Barberitos and everyone involved, I am incredibly humbled” Owner and CEO Downing Barber said. “I would like to offer my most heartfelt thanks to the residents of Athens. We’re grateful for the continued support from our customers here in the Classic City, as well as those who continue to make our other locations a success too.”

Other Athens-based competitors in the “Best Burritos” category for 2018 included a variety of other local restaurants. Equally exciting is the fact that Barberitos proudly calls Athens home, celebrating 18 years in the Classic City. The original Barberitos is located in downtown Athens, and there are seven other locations in the Athens area.
