SailTime Opens Third Location in Europe
World’s Leading Boat Membership Franchise Opens New Base in Concarneau, France Months After Their First European Expansion into Italy
December 12, 2018 // Franchising.com // SailTime Group, the world’s leading fractional boating membership franchise, announced the opening of a new base in Concarneau, France, last weekend at the 2018 Paris Boat Show last weekend. It is the third European Base to open since September when SailTime launched new bases in Tuscany and Salerno, Italy.
“We couldn’t be happier with how our European expansion is taking place,” SailTime CEO Todd Hess said, “The opening of SailTime of Concarneau is the perfect finish to 2018 as we look forward to a globally prosperous new year.”
The opening of SailTime of Concarneau comes on the heels of SailTime’s inclusion in Entrepreneur magazine’s 2019 Top Franchise Categories, the annual predictions by Entrepreneur’s experts regarding what will be the hottest franchise sectors of the year along with brands that will be leading the charge.
“It’s always an honor to be recognized by esteemed business publications like Entrepreneur,” Hess said. “Our European expansion, along with the recognition from Entrepreneur, are just the latest examples of the staying power of the sharing economy and the desire for business owners in the marine industry to add SailTime to their offerings.”
SailTime of Concarneau will be owned and operated by CN Diffusion, an exclusive dealer of Beneteau. Owner Yann Labbe is excited to offer SailTime to boat enthusiasts in France looking to enjoy all the fun of sailing without the commitment of boat ownership.
“We at CN Diffusion are thrilled to become part of the SailTime family and be the first dealer to bring SailTime to France,” Labbe said. “We look forward to many prosperous years partnering with SailTime and expanding our market to a new market of boating enthusiasts.”
Concarneau is a Breton town, the third biggest in Finistère, and the seventh biggest French fishing port. Concarneau Marina boasts nearly 770 spaces and welcomes more than 25,000 pleasure boaters a year. Not just a port, Concarneau is also steeped in historic heritage. The town was developed in the Middle Ages, around a walled city. Its position in the Baie de La Forêt makes it one of the region’s leading coastal resorts. From Concarneau, you can choose from a wide range of sailing itineraries. The bay of La Forêt is a great environment for boating water sports. Cabellou Peninsula and Cabellou Beach, just outside the bay, are pearls of nature, home to picture postcard scenery. Past the peninsula of Trévignon, sailors can visit the Glénan Islands to enjoy the different beaches the islands have to offer.
What is SailTime?
- Boat ownership can be expensive, and the National Marine Manufacturers Association reports more than 70 percent of U.S. boat owners earning less than $100,000 a year.
- With a fee that starts at only a few hundred dollars a month, SailTime members can conveniently schedule blocks of time online to enjoy a new model sail or power boat without the commitment or expense of ownership. When finished, they turn the keys over to the SailTime team to clean up and maintain the boat.
- Boat owners can make money by placing their sail or power boat in the SailTime program, allowing franchisees to sell blocks of time on their vessel.

A monthly membership covers the slip fees, maintenance, insurance, and operating costs. These memberships offer an attractive alternative to boat ownership. SailTime also offers a generous Owner Member Program where the owner receives a monthly income, as well as the benefits of membership and complete professional management of their boat.??SailTime also has a significant network of sailing schools, via bases that are certified American Sailing Association (ASA) and Royal Yachting Association (RYA) affiliates. The instruction provided at these locations has been a key component in providing a pathway for members to achieve their goals and dreams for the sport of sailing.
