Hi-Land Properties Named HomeVestors National Franchise of the Year
Award-winning “We Buy Ugly Houses” Company Continues to Help Maintain Affordable Local Housing Supply While Also Providing Hundreds of Local Jobs
February 20, 2019 // Franchising.com // WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Hi-Land Properties, a West Palm Beach franchise of HomeVestors®, has been named the We Buy Ugly Houses® Franchise of the Year for the fourth time in eight years. Last year, Hi-Land Properties bought 176 houses, and has purchased more than 1,100 in the area since becoming a franchise in 2005. HomeVestors has been America’s number one homebuyer for several years.
“We don’t just buy ugly houses, we also provide homeowners ‘solutions for ugly situations®’,” said Don Cameron, owner of Hi-Land Properties. “The individuals and families that sell to us appreciate that we meet with them personally to make a fair cash offer and buy their property as-is, and that we always operate in an honest, straightforward manner. We write every purchase contract with the FAR-BAR As-Is contract, which is approved by the Florida Associations of Realtors and the Florida Bar.”
There are more than 32 independently owned and operated HomeVestors franchises like Hi-Land Properties in south Florida that are helping drive neighborhood improvement, as well as providing business opportunities for investors.
HomeVestors has purchased more than 95,000 houses since it began franchising in 1996, and averages about 8,000 houses each year. The houses are deemed “ugly” in advertisements, with the term applying not just to their condition, but also to the ugly situations sellers often themselves in. More than 80 percent of houses purchased by HomeVestors® franchisees are less than 1,400-square feet and were built before 1980. Houses purchased are generally rehabbed, then sold or held as investment properties, helping raise real estate values and drive community revitalization.
“Few builders are selling new single-family homes for less than $300,000,” added David Hicks, CEO of HomeVestors. “But franchises like Hi-Land Properties here in West Palm Beach are reintroducing properties that might not otherwise be available, delivering a supply of desirable homes that first-time home buyers can reasonably afford. We pride ourselves on providing a needed service to these sellers while also bringing the progress of new development and an affordable housing supply to the communities where our franchises live and work.”
