Honor Yoga Putting Roots Into North Carolina

Booming yoga franchise set to expand into the Tar Heel State with first studio in Knightdale

February 20, 2019 // Franchising.com // Lawrenceville, New Jersey - Honor Yoga, known as an eco- and beginner-friendly yoga studio and community that welcomes and nourishes every yogi to thrive in their practice, has set its intentions on expanding into North Carolina. Looking to stretch its yoga experience to more communities, the brand is set to open its first studio in Knightdale.

Located at 4001 Widewaters Parkway, the first 3,000 square foot studio is slated to open in late-spring 2019. The studio will be owned and operated by local yogi Lee Ann Evans and her husband, Jim.

“I am so excited to bring Honor Yoga’s mission to Knightdale,” said Lee Ann. “As the trend of health and wellness continues to grow, more and more people are beginning to pick up the practice of yoga. I knew there was a need for a beginner-friendly studio, and I hope to provide a welcoming environment that offers yoga practices for every person.”

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Lee Ann worked in management for 20 years with an emphasis on business operations, quality management, process improvements, and administration. After Lee Ann and Jim were laid off within six months of each other, the thought of becoming independent business owners started to grow. Lee Ann found yoga as way to help rehabilitate her body from past surgeries, and heal emotionally as she processed the loss of her oldest daughter in 2010. Watching her life change through yoga, Lee Ann and Jim became inspired to open their own studio to help others transform their lives as well.

“The practice of yoga goes beyond the physical aspect of stretching your body and becoming more flexible. Yoga provides an outlet to find space in the mind and body which helps a person to reconnect with themselves, which I think is something people often neglect to do,” expressed Evans. “Stress, and especially grief, can take a toll on your body. After losing my daughter I began practicing yoga as a way to get out of my own head and process my emotions. Now, yoga is a time for me to listen to my body, mind, and heart giving myself space in a very busy world. I look forward to using my Honor Yoga studio to help the community connect with themselves and each other.”

Founded by fitness industry veteran Maria Turco, Honor Yoga’s mission is to provide welcoming, beginner-friendly and accessible yoga studios where healthier and happier communities can be built around the practice of yoga. Focused on five pillars– physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social health – Honor Yoga offers a variety of classes to fit into each individual’s diverse lifestyle and schedule. From gentle, roots, calm and strong, slow flow, flow, power flow, aerial, yogabarre and meditation, each class is designed to fulfill Honor Yoga’s five pillars of yogic practice to relax the mind, restore balance, and build strength and flexibility. Honor Yoga also offers online streaming yoga classes.

Furthermore, each studio is consciously designed with the environment in mind. The living and breathing space honors the body, spirit and environment through a living vertical garden, bamboo floors as a wood substitute, safe cleaning products, and reusable retail products, among other design elements.

“Yoga serves as a catalyst for self-growth and discovery. Lee Ann’s personal experiences and passion for yoga, understanding of the power of yoga and desire to help others live healthy, will help her successfully introduce Honor Yoga to the community of Knightdale,” added Turco. “We are thrilled to have Lee Ann and Jim join our family and look forward to watching her carry our mission in North Carolina.”

Honor Yoga currently has 25 studios in various stages of development across six states, with plans to open 20 additional studios each year. By 2023, Honor Yoga expects to have 100 studios open and operating.
